hello
must be using ver1.1 scrollbars
i want to use scrollbars to scroll an image but have read that different platforms may not display the wanted thumb size to screen correctly, if that's so and i call a
scrollbar.getVisibleAmount ();
will it return the thumb size i have adjusted it too, or the thumb size being displayed on the screen?
i'm just trying to make it platform independent
i have tried used scrollpane, but after double buffering and overiding the update method of the child component it still flashes?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

hello, the problem i'm having is;
is there a way i can set a frames "restore/maximum" button.
i am running an applet that creates a frame that the user can resize.
i have added an "actual size" checkbox to set the size of the frame to the preferred size of the component.
the trouble i'm having is, if the frame is maximized and i click the "actual size" the frame sizes properly but the "restore/maximize buton" of the frame stays set to "restore" instead of turning into "maximize"
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx

hello, i believe you want to use the JPanel class instead of the canvas class. i had the same problem and that fixed it up straight away.

g'day, i have a problem when using ScrollPane in my applet
i am using a scrollPane of size (400,400) to display an image that is on a canvas of size (900,600). I have changed the canvases' update method to stop the canvas from clearing before it redraws and am using a double buffering technique to stop the canvas from drawing until the image is finished, but none of this has helped to stop the flickering that occurs every time i move one of the scrollpanes slider bars.
if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanx for any help u can offer
p.s. i don't want to have to use swing components, unless i have to.

g'day
i am trying to use a scrollpane of size(300,300) to display an image on a canvas of size (800, 500)
every time i move one of the scrollbars the image flickers, I have altered the canvases' update method so the canvas won't clear before it redraws and am using double buffering in the canvas so the image won't display until it is finished, yet it still flickers a great deal.
if anyone has any ideas please let me know, thanx
