Hi Ivan,

thanks for the tip regarding EJB. I think I'm gonna have a good look at the J2EE with passion course, get the basics right before moving on with web services now.

Thanks

Alex
Hey David,

Thanks ever so much for outlining your "training regime".

In fact I am thinking about following the "Web Services Programming with Passion" course as well. Do you reckon to start with that i will need a good all-round understanding of J2EE??? In my case altho I am okay with Servlets, JSP's, i am not familiar with other J2ee stuff.....

Thanks in advance

Alex
Just passed my SCWCD today...78%, above what i had expected. Many thanks to the ranchers who provide tips for practice materials and discussing the HFSJ questions.

Now, I am a self-taught programmer with no University Degree in IT, and I want to start a career as a Java J2EE (Web) Developer, what do you guys reckon is the next thing i should learn? Frameworks like Spring, or SQL or Java Web Services...... any suggestions? Cos i have really no idea and i don't know anyone working in the IT industry.

Thanks
Thanks Nikos,

Those pages with 70-ish questions are really good. Helped me a lot with "hard-coding" these tags into my brain.... i passed my exam and i have to thank you for that...
I'm not sure.... but it may have to do with the word "New" ....it says a "when a New request comes in"......it may mean the first request that invokes the servlet for the first time, when the servlet is "new", init() is invoked..... but obviously with each subsequent request it should be service()
Some times the way they formulate the questions is quite confusing
I ticked C & E too
Thanks Guys, I will definitely check the Enthuware's Test Software. (Much cheaper than Whizlabs too) :.)
Hi guys,

As i am now preparing for the SCWCD exam, i am wondering whether you guys got any tips for mock exam softwares? I used the Whizlabs for my SCJP, i like the fact you can practice on specific subjects at different levels, but i also reckon the some questions were not on the exam objectives. So does anyone know a good software where i can practice subject oriented and get a good feel for the exam?

Thanks
Go for the mac version of OpenOffice.... it has database application and it is free. www.sun.com

Hi Guys,

I'm a self taught programmer (SCJA) who is about to take on the SCJP exam next week, but now my question is... what to go for next? I taught myself programming and professional certifications mean probably more to me than others since i never did any IT-related university courses. Now i was wondering which study direction can give me better chances with finding a job (in the UK)? Combine my SCJP java skills with PHP and go for the ZEND certificate? Or shall i stick to Java and go for J2EE/JSP and the SCWCD certificate?

Any comments are much appreciated.
