This is called Encapsulation, where you hide all the properties of a House in a House class. Makes things easy to manage and relate together.

Yes you can write your own database driver, but i dont think it would be a trivial task, you will have to implement the jdbc api, and understand the underlying protocol (over socket) for connecting to database.
If you overload, then it is no longer the usual main method (i.e it cannot be invoked automatically by jvm)

it can be both overridden and overloaded.

think executeQuery returns ResultSet
and executeUpdate returns number of records updated.
for writing database independent code should i use only hibernate or is there some other way also. any other tool that can help. if free, it is better.
use whatever you have free access to, to a beginner all seem the same. Basic commands are all the same.

Touch Screen applications are no different from other ordinary applications, except that instead of mouse person is using touch-screen mechanism. So, the application 'usually' does not have to do anything special. It is the device which should be capable of translating 'touch' on the screen into a mouse event for underlying UI.

Name of the company OR at least what area the company is working on, what kind of product, will be very helpful for peoples to decide.

In development area there are other jobs - like QA Tester, Functional Analyst, Configuration Management and so on.

If you dont want to write code, consider QA, Testing etc.
Technical Writing can quickly get very boring if it really does not interest you.
And it is far easier to shift to something like QA, Functional Analysis; as your previous experience as developer will come in very handy here too.

Struts 2 is so much cleaner than Struts 1

but how to tell that, everyone is having different information. even struts website is not taking any particular side except that struts 2 has more support for future.

you can first do a count query to find how many rows may be returned, then if the rows are many, you can fetch a few at a time like 10 k and save. this way you will never have lot of rows in memory.
