Thanks

Now I understand. + sign only means when creating a variable or ID. Else when you use it you mention without the + sign.

Hi all

This is my first question on android. I am learning android very late I know & I have a question.

Can anyone explain me this statement below.

android:id="@+id/label

what does it mean by the plus sign I am going through the tutorial on android.

http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-relativelayout.html

There is no explanation of this & I was hoping if someone can explain it to me.

Thanks

Yes I am getting this message when I open your given link.

description The requested resource (/manager/html) is not available.

& the weird part is my all other projects are running on the same configuration. i.e. Eclipse with Apache Tomcat 6.

Guys

I just don't understand why its not running. I know its not a big error its some deployment issue but strange thing is that my other projects in the same workspace is running perfectly but this one is not.

http://localhost:8080/Struts/login.action <---Not working same error

So your application is deployed on the /Struts context path (its case sensitive)??

yes its deployed. I mean its in my Eclipse Workspace folder like other folders. My project name is "Struts".

Thanks

Yes I have a welcome.jsp but its not even reading the Login.jsp

<%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8"%>
<%@ taglib prefix="s" uri="/struts-tags"%>
<html>
<head>
<title>Welcome</title>
</head>

<body>
<h2>Howdy, <s:property value="username" />...!</h2>
</body>
</html>

this is the URL which comes in the eclipse browser

http://localhost:8080/Struts/

even If I add Login.jsp by myself its still not opening the page. http://localhost:8080/Struts/Login.jsp

I have added all the necessary lib/jar files. & I am not getting any syntax errors. this eclipse tomcat is running other projects of jsps & servlets but not this one. don't understand why?

and the error is "HttpServlet cannot be resolved to a type"
Sorry.

I thought the ever was because I was trying to write my first servlet. Still anyone who knows what could be the problem with my IDE?

Irtiza

this is my code in eclipse. I am doing the example from the Head First Servlets & JSP book. March 2008.

But its not running because the eclipse cannot find HttpServlet???what could be the reason???my JSP's were perfectly running. I have Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers. Do I have to add any libraries before making the first servlet???

Yup as I wrote that I ll first finish servlets & JSP's so that I can move to a framework so that I can practice my first web application using all the today's standards.

secondly if frameworks are not good & we cannot make a good application only using servlets & JSP's then what to use???

JSP
Ohh

this means I have to study servlets then the remaining of JSP & then struts & then my first practice application ...5 days at least..

thanks Sir

will be asking questions on servlets from now on.
