I have also seen most employers are now looking for Spring Framework skills. I know struts (1.2) well. How this book will help me from a beginner standpoint.

ESB stands for Enterprise Service Bus which is an architecture. Spring Integration is a Light weight messaging framework for ESB.

According to the website.

Although this book project was initiated when Spring Integration was at version 1.0, we ended up making changes throughout to keep up with the latest major version of the framework: 2.0. In fact, our code sample repository actually uses the latest minor version, 2.1, which is a superset of 2.0.

I have used Camel in one of my projects. I agree with Sai, Camel is very easy to integrate . I don't know anything about Spring Integration to make any comments.

Enterprise Integration Patterns is a book by Gregor Hohpe and Bobby Woolf and describes a number of design patterns for the use of enterprise application integration and message-oriented middleware.

Its a very good book and I love it.

Apache Camel uses most of the EAI Patterns described in the book.

If true do you think we need ESB if we are using java?

If you are developing an enterprise application that requires integration with third party application to send messages then, yes. It would be wise to opt for ESB. Camel's learning curve is very less and requires min effort for installation and configuration.

Top 3 risk as per OWASP is Broken Authentication and Session Management even though OWASP is not mentioning Authorization. My questions is how much detail your Book is covering about this topic. The prevention as OWASAP is extensive code review. My question is how much this is viable?

Can you please tell us any open source tool for JVM memory issues?

"I think other frameworks are the drivers for many of the Java EE standards. CDI has roots in Spring and Guice. JPA has roots in hibernate and iBatis. "

So does JAVA EE6 have all features Spring offers?
Hi Mick,

Can you please eloborate tuning in web application with some your real life experience? what are the things we need to test and how do we fix that?

Thanks.
I can't access amazon from Office...
Is the book mainly concentrating on security and tuning since the book title says "Java EE 6 Cookbook for Securing, Tuning, and Extending Enterprise Applications" ?
Will there by challenges ?Yes and No. It depends the framework and complexity of the existing application. Do a POC and see how how difficult it will be before taking the decision.
