Hi Folks,
Just a question on the same topic: I am planning to get my developer cert, but rather then dish out the money right away I decided to borrow a copy of the package, required to get your developer, from someone. Once I am close to completion I plan to buy the developer package and submit as one normally does. My only purpose is not to be so long without the cash.
My question: is the developer assignment to change soon? meaning I might work with an old package and when the time comes to buy the kit for my developer I will get a different set of requirements?
Sharing any knowledge on this topic will be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks guys,
Because I am running windows 2000 Advanced Server I ended up using a second hard drive. Leaves a lot less risk for experiment while at a beginner lever.

Hi all,
I'm about to install Linux red Hat version 7.2. Being new to the Linux world, at first my plan was to put it on a different machine. However, the more I read I am lead to believe that I can install Red Hat on a machine that runs Windows 2000. I know the easy way would be to format my machine and partition, and continue from there. But who wants to take the easy way ?
I'd like to know if anyone knows if it is possible to partition a drive that currently has the windows platform running on it. I have a 20GB drive, with about 7GB free space. I'd like to partition and install Linux in that free space.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi George,
Thanks for your advice as well. As I was saying to Greg, I am new to this and really need a place to start. Hopefully I'll give Red Hat a try and I'm also interested in looking into what Solaris 8 has to offer.
Thanks again.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the response. I believe I will go ahead and give things a try with Red Hat. As silly as it sounds, I've yet to learn what the difference is between what the pros and cons are of using an actual UNIX box vs a LINUX box.
Anyhow this is a great start, thanks

I'll start out by mentioning that I do not have a UNIX background, however, it is a skill that I wish to develop. With that in mind, I'm planning to set up a UNIX box. I'm not sure what version of UNIX I should be using etc.. One of the main goals of this box would be as a web server for web development.
If anyone can help point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
