I can definitely tell you that looking for a job in the companies of your choice and trying to get a salary matching your expectations would definitely be a good option for you. Update your profile on the job sites, get to know the job opportunities in different companies through your contacts, try applying wherever you can and wherever your profile matches the requirements and I'm sure you would get a job soon.

I don't have any experience about H1B processing through a consultant, so I can't say much about that. Sorry!

And about MS, I'm not sure why you are trying to compare "getting another job" to "applying for MS". Do you really want to go for MS? Can you take a break in your work for the duration of the course? Can you invest the amount of time and money required for the course? Do you think completing MS would enhance your chances of getting a job of your liking?
If the answers to the above questions are "yes", then you should go for MS and then not worry about changing your job now. Otherwise, like I said above, go for a full-fledged job hunt.

Good luck!

Thanks Pushkar. Even I was concluding on some thing similar :-)

That depends on your definition of "better", which would depend on what you are looking for when you go for a change.

What are your goals? Are you looking for a better salary? Or a better role? Or probably a better location? Do you want to pursue higher education? Or do you plan to continue working?

Thanks for your quick reply Pushkar. The definition for "Better" in my terms were: Better Work, Opportunity to learn, and off course better Salary. My mentioning of H1B and MS were steps that may be required to achieve my goal(Not necessarily). I don't have problems in relocating overseas provided it meets my req.

Thanks again,
Prakash

Hi,

I have around 2.6 years of Java/J2ee experience in a multi Billion $ MNC which is known as one of the legend in companies working on Java. I want to switch now.Which option would be better for me at present out of these.
1. Get a Job in some tier 1 company of similar status locally(Bangalore).
2. Try to get a H1B processed through some consultant though I don't have any contact with any of them as of now.
3. Get enrolled to MS in US.

My Experience is with: Java(Server Part), XML, Servlets n JSPs (Not much), Java SCript Framework. I did work a bit on JSF but don't have knowledge of any other framework like Struts,Hibernate, Sppring etc. I am a SCJP 1.5, and a SCWCD.

Thanks for your time and help in Advance,
Prakash
