A colleague of mine wrote this code, but he is no longer here, and I need to make it work.
I reduced the code even further.
See the div class='modelContent' ?
Inside it, there are several div class='fieldBox'.
All those fieldBoxes would have to be displayed either on the same single line ( with whitespace='nowrap') or wrapping the line (with whitespace = 'normal').

The toggleLineWrap function does not work on the 'modelContent' element.
The function is supposed to wrap the long list of fieldBox elements (different sizes and look as the style css indicates) that are contained in a 'modelContent' element.

Hope this helps get to the problem.
It only works on IE if I remove <!DOCTYPE ..., it does not work on Firefox no matter what I do.
I cannot get my method togglelineWrap to work on either Firefox nor IE6.
If I remove
things will work on IE6, but not on Firefox. Please, help, I cannot figure out what the problem is.
In my web app, all reports can be saved as PDF, Excel, Ppt, DOC, HTML, XML. So, the user will see a select box like tht e one below

Hence, in my java code, I will have to choose like this

IT seems to me rather boring ...
All of my reports will offer the same options. I do not want to repeat the code above over and over again. How could I refactor it for a more elegant solution ? Is maybe a common taglib (that would define a "report saving options" tag) the way to go ? Please advise.

JSP
select distinct Substr(column,1,instr(column,'_')) from ....
I was trying to find an Oracle forum here, but I guess it does not exist
Sorry, I meant a way with a SQL select statement
Does anyone know how to
select the first substring before a given character with SQL ?
For instance, if my column ID contains data like ABC_XYZ or BC_Z, how could I select the 'ABC' or 'BC' occurring before the '_' ?

Thanks !

Thank you for moving this post !
What is the difference ?
The style one works in my jsp, but not the other one.
I am fine with using groovy as language for the reports. The problem was I was not importing the .jar properly in my app. I had to use the libray path in my orion-application.xml file like this: <library path="./shared-libs/poi-3.5-FINAL-20090928.jar" />
I generated teh sample report "Groups" that comes with iReports 3.7.1, and the data you can see are rendered as Currency, and the total in "Total freight in this country" gives the correct total, but it is no longer a updatable formula that reflects the changes in the data it is supposed to sum.
I wonder whether there is a bug in 3.7.1
JasperReports 3.7.1 uses POI 3.5
JasperReports 3.7.1
Excel 2007
The .excel version of my report seems

a) not to recognize number formats (defined them as BigDecimal -- I have already set the JRXlsExporterParameter.IS_DETECT_CELL_TYPERXlsExporterParameter.IS_DETECT_CELL_TYPE property to TRUE, but no luck !)

b) not to recognize the functions/formula.

In my report, I am using a crosstab, which displays totals in its last row from the defined measures.

For instance, my actual_degree_qtyMeasure is defined as follows (exerpt from .jrxml):

<measure name="ACTUAL_DEGREE_QTYMeasure" class="java.math.BigDecimal" calculation="Sum">
<measureExpression>$F{ACTUAL_DEGREE_QTY}</measureExpression>
</measure>

The total $V{actual_degree_qtyMeasure} is defined as follows in the .jrxml

<textField>
<reportElement style="Crosstab Data Text" mode="Opaque" x="0" y="-29" width="25" height="29" backcolor="#CCCCFF"/>
<textElement verticalAlignment="Middle">

</textElement>
<textFieldExpression class="java.math.BigDecimal">$V{ACTUAL_DEGREE_QTYMeasure} == null ? "0" : $V{ACTUAL_DEGREE_QTYMeasure}</textFieldExpression>
</textField>

Now, when I generate the excel file, the numbers are printed in the cells, but they are recognized as "general" format, not numbers, and obviously if I increase one of these data, the totals do not change.

Any help, please ?
