I have solved the issue by making some code changes mainly in I/O using DEFAULT_STREAM_NAME. Now I am not making HWPF document so it's more generic now and can be used to populate the custom properties for excel and ppt too

I am new to the forum. I was trying to add custom properties in DOC files using POI HWPF. Program runs fine and I can set the properties but when I edit the document using MS Word it hangs and I have to kill the word. It seems that document gets damaged after the POI operation and that might be the reason MS Word is crashing. I was trying to debug but nothing found. I can imagine the issue with reading/writing stream but couldn't figure out where. Would appreciate if you guys can have a look on the code pasted below and suggest the potential culprit:
