Yes,
check out http://certification.bea.com/certification/certification_by_product.jsp?r_cert=1
Look at the last paragraph and you should find "Or" which says you either take the exam or attend the courses.

Thank freinds, i passed with 82%. The exam was definitely NOT easy unlike SCJP. Lot of trickier questions, especially scenerio based ones where conceptualization, thinking, practical exposure matters more than the theoretical knowledge.
Write more later.

Thanks guys.
Yes, Test 486 is quite different from SCEA.

Friends, after passing SCEA Part1, and I am set to appear for XML 141 test in the coming week. I am working on these technologies for 6 months now and have used various articles/tests available. I am still not feeling comfortable and wud like to have assisstance from successful people:
Prof XML (2nd Edition) is the book i have used primarily as the study guide. I have also given various mock tests listed on the links page and the xmlwhiz from whiz at http://whizlabs.com. I am quite impressed with the new version of it with sooooo many scenario based questions. I am getting around 70% in 3 practice tests of whiz. Anyone used this new version may please give his/her inputs.
Which is the difficult toppic for this exam, i shd work hard on? For e..g SCJP has Threads as the fear topic.
Any help for the above queries will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for your contribution to this ever helping place.

Congratulations Doug. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks Seid for your remarks. I am going for Part II. Also thinking of Test 486 IBM UML OOAD as it will help me strengthen by designing knowledge.

Hi Max,
Sad knowing about your score but man failures have been the key to successes many times. It might be a problem at their end but be confident.
Your feedback can be of great help to others like me who aspire to go for part 2.
Best wishes

Hi Del,
I might have reacted strongly but it was not becuase I didn't feel that you should not have raised your voice about the problems you faced. It was becuase the amount of text you have written didn't look appropriate.
Anyways, end of the day you got the problem solved and as I suggested earlier, your focus should be to concentrate on your exam and make use of the product for which you have spent money and time.
Good luck
JR
PS: I haven't yet been infatuated by anyone in this world
Hey congrats man! Great job done. What next?
Best wishes

Hey Pradeep, sorry I couldn't respond earlier. Its really sad to hear these un-kind (should I also say baseless??) words, knowing that WHIZlabs products, support and authors like Ian and Sanjay have great respect in this domain of IT Cert Test Preps.
I personally owe a lot to your company, your team and highly worth products.
BTW, your article on SCEA at CerMag is really nice.
And when do you plan to launch the Online versions of your products?
Many thanks and good wishes to you!
JR
Del,
I never had any problem with WHIZlabs products or their support. Instead I owe a lot to them for my success in couple of IT certification exams, especially the J2EE ones.
Had I been at your place, instead of waisting time in writing mails and messages, I would have studied, especially when my exam is near.
Anyways, good luck for your exam and I can bet that you'll realize the value of SCEAWhiz product as many others like me.
Best wishes
JR
Christy,
My suggestion is to practice as much possible for you. Surely, you will find quality (especially the quality of explanations and kind of questions) as well as quantity (number of mock tests) difference between Free and Commercial products, as experienced by me.
But you should have the diversified practice to be fully prepared.
The actual exam has lot of scenario based questions and SCEAWhiz has a very good respresentation of the the real exam questions in terms of distribution but the difficulty level is higher than the actual exam.
Best wishes
JR
I'll suggest going to SCEA through SCWCD. I'll advice the following path for various Sun Java Certifications
SCJP(1.2/1.4)->SCWCD/SCJD->SCEA
