What happens if you do 0.225 instead? I've seen rounding rules where you "round half up" depending on whether the preceding digit is even or odd. Perhaps Java is doing this?

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I'm off to a great start now. I picked up Marty Hall's Servlet and JSP book last night. It's looking like a great start for someone new to the subject.
Thanks again.

Hi all,
I'm new to doing servlets and JSP and have been doing research into this area. Our company will most likely be creating our new site using these technologies. As of now, we are using Windows 2000 Server running IIS 5.0. What web server is preferred for doing Java Servlets and JSP? Does IIS 5.0 work well with these technologies? Does it scale well? What web server have most of you all had the most success with? Does that server run on the win32 platform or only unix?
One other question. If you are new to doing Java Servlets and JSP, which book would all of you recommend? I'm in the market for that as well.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
This message is directed at Paul I believe. I was wondering if you know how to password protect a forum. I have the UBB working but I'd like to make some forums protected. UBB is installed on IIS 4.0. Any ideas?

Jikes is a Java compiler, written from scratch in C++, that translates Java source files as defined in The Java Language Specification (Addison-Wesley, 1996) and Inner Classes Specification (JavaSoft, Release 2/10/97) into the bytecoded instruction set and binary format defined in The Java Virtual Machine Specification (Addison-Wesley, 1996).
Its faster cause its written in C++. You can get more information at:
http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/formula/Jikes

You can also configure Kawa to use Jikes, which speeds up compile time drastically. I highly recommend people use that compiler.
Yes, it requires that JDK is installed on your system. I'm using it now with JDK 1.2.
By the way Paul, I just bought the book "Just Java 1.2" and am going to try and catch up with your assignments. I'm taking a course here at a college so I think I'll be able to catch up no problem.
Hi everyone.
I'm new to the BBS and I saw you all talking about IDE's for Java. I'm learning Java now and I have found that the best IDE, atleast for learning purposes, is Kawa 3.2. It has a nice interface and works nicely with JDK 1.2. It also has a nice debugger. If anyone wants to try it out, its shareware, you can get more information at www.tek-tools.com/kawa. I really enjoy using this IDE and I just thought I'd pass it along...
