Hi Mark,

I did realize the mistake. I corrected the source file, but still i don't get through with compiling. As suggested by others, let me download the latest version of jdk5, install it, and check out.

Hi,

I am trying to compile the file in the bin folder itself, but still it does not compile.

I did thought that this might be an issue & so have changed the path and other variables to point to the folder where this jdk is copied. Following is the output:

I just started with java 1.5 and I am not able to compile the following code:

It throws the following error:

I have not installed the jdk 5 but copied the "j2sdk1.5.0" folder from another machine. I earlier thought it to be a path problem so i copied my source file in to j2sdk1.5.0\bin folder and tried compiling it, which gave me the same error.

Can any body help me the silliest mistake i am making.

JBoss 3.2.x comes bundled with Tomcat. When JBoss is started, the Tomcat also starts. What is the way to start only the JBoss server and not to start the Tomcat server.

I have a main menu, on mouse over i want to show the submenu

If the mouse is over the main menu or the submenu i want to keep the sub menu and if it goes out of any of these two i want to hide the sub menu.

I wrote a js on the mouseover event of the main menu to show the submenu. But i am unable to hide submenu appropriately. The problem is either just after leaving the main menu the submenu gets hidden or if i write the mouseout function on the submenu, i have to get into the submenu and get out to get the submenu hidden.

Help need.

Any resource on the net will be useful.

I know this topic would have been posted earlier, can any one give me the URL of the discussion thread.

There are varied different opinion on difference between Interface and Abstract class that makes me confused and I can't sum up in plain sentence the difference of both. So, i am also looking on how to put in words the difference.

If anybody can refer to a good reading on the net regarding this topic it will of good help.

If a code is using connection pooling will the benefit of using Prepared Statement is valid.

Say, if i take a connection from a pool, prepare a statement using that connection, execute the querry and release the connection to pool. Now for the second time when i take a connection from the pool, i do not get the same connection as the previous one. On this connection will the advantage of prepare statement be still present, even though the previously the statement was prepared using a different connection.

Yes/No, but an explaination will be highly appreciated.

primitives is not an object, hence you cannot get a class from int. If you looking at primitve wrappers then it's the Integer class that you require.

create a SimpleDateFormat object with the format of your date as the parameter. Use the SimpleDateFormat's parse() method to get a date object, passing your date from the database as the argument.

With this date object you can create a Calendar object.

Once you have the Calendar objects, these objects can be compared.

how to manage big string data. if i use the String object i run out of memory.

Through the program i'm trying to search for a given word in a given file. The logic i've used is read the file as InputStream and covert the bytes read to String. In this string do and indexOf() of the word i'm searching.

This works fine for small files, but if the file is big it runs out of memory. i am using a P3 555 Mhz with 256 mb RAM and it runs out of memory for a 20 mb file.

Any smart way to achieve the goal?

if i've to manipulate huge chunks of String data what is the way out?

it looks like that the class "TextDemo" is under the "equipment" package. so, the "TextDemo.class" should be under "equipment" folder.

to run the program you have to go to the parent folder of "equipment" folder and type "java equipment.TextDemo" to run the program. you have to enter the fully qualified name of the class from the top of the package hierarchy for the JVM to locate the class properly.
