I have a form built using JSF and RichFaces. Here's a snippet of the code:

......

I'm also using Spring WebFlow and here's the addPerson action in my flow xml:

I noticed that the addPerson action on the commandButton does not get called consistently when it is clicked. I've been reading forums and it seems that there is a problem with the h:commandButton not invoking the action bound to it. However, I don't see any post explaining why the problem is happening and what to do to resolve it.

I need help.

Thanks.

Just wanna put some closure to this thread:

I resolved my issue by doing the following:
1. In the form jsp with the file upload input item, I added a scriptlet which created a session-scope object. For my purpose, the value of the object did not really matter.
2. In the included JSP, I added code to check if the parameters that were supposed to be passed from the form jsp. If they have null values, I check for the session object. If it exists, I set the parameters to some values (that should have been passed by the form jsp when the Save button is clicked). Then, I remove the session object.

It was a hack to do away with the problem with the inputFileUpload tag.

Hi. Why don't you try using XPath to traverse your XML? JDK 1.5 already has an XPath interface which will allow you to use an XPath expression to jump to a node and work with it. I used it to parse XML files and it was pretty fast (well, until the XML file got really big and I had to switch to StAX).

Hope this helps.

I'm using JMF for the first time and am trying to use it with fobs4jmf to try stitching together video files into a single file. Fortunately, I found a sample program to do just that in the SDN website (http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/Concat.html).

I copied and pasted the Concat.java class in a new Eclipse Java class, set up the classpaths, and tested it. (I've gone through the pain of setting up and resetting classpaths so that the JMF diagnostics is able to detect the correct JMF installation in my machine).

However, in the tryMatch method of Concat.java, I am getting an empty array of Format objects, represented by the "supported" variable, in the following code sequence:
=============================================
TrackControl tc = pInfo[0].tracksByType[type][trackID].tc;
Format origFmt = tc.getFormat();
Format newFmt, oldFmt;
Format supported[] = tc.getSupportedFormats();

for (int i = 0; i < supported.length; i++) {

if (supported[i] instanceof AudioFormat) {
// If it's not the original format, then for audio, we'll
// only do linear since it's more accurate to compute the
// audio times.
if (!supported[i].matches(tc.getFormat()) &&
!supported[i].getEncoding().equalsIgnoreCase(AudioFormat.LINEAR))
continue;
}
.........
.........
=============================================

Here's my problem: While on DEBUG mode, I see that the variable "supported" shows an empty array, however, when I look deeper in the TrackControl tc variable and look at its supportedFormats instance variable, I can see that it has a value. For my testing, I used a .mov file and the supportedFormats variable contains an AudioFormat with the value mp4a, 32000.0 Hz, 16-bit, Stereo, BigEndian, Signed, FrameSize=32 bits.

I can't get past through this hurdle for now. Why am I getting an empty array of Format objects when the TrackControl tc variable actually contains value in its supportedFormats property?

I'd appreciate any help on this matter.

I am working with a jsp-based form built using JSF, particularly MyFaces and Tomahawk. I am using <t:inputFileUpload> to display a file input component in the jsp page. After clicking the Save button, the backend code kicks in to process the uploaded file and other input parameters successfully and then gets ready to redisplay the same page.

However, there is another jsp that is included (using <jsp:include>)in this main jsp page as well as parameters (via <jsp:param> with set values) that are nested inside the <jsp:include>.

The included jsp reads the parameters that are passed on to it from the main jsp. The problem is that these parameters return null values and causes a NullPointerException during runtime.

I have the enctype="multipart/form-data" attribute in my form since I am working with the file input. However, I read about JSF problems handling parameters in included jsp's when the enctype is "multipart/form-data" but I could not find a good solution. When I remove the enctype attribute from my form, there is no problem in my page navigation.

Right now, I'm using the following files:
tomahawk_1.1.6.jar
commons-fileupload-1.2.1.jar

I'd appreciate any help on this matter.

I would like to know if anybody knows how to work with .wmv files to play & extract data about Windows Media video files. I looked at the Java Media Framework (JMF) but it does not have support for .wmv files

Thanks.

I'm trying to test JRas on Websphere (using WSAD 5.0). I already set up my classpath to include the ras.jar file from the WAS_50_PLUGINDIR/lib folder so it compiles just fine.
When I start my server, I'm getting some exception saying that it couldn't load some ResourceBundle files. My console produced the following:

What should I do? Actually, I just wanted to test the logging feature using the RASMessageLogger and RASTraceLogger classes in the com.ibm.ras package.
Thanks.

Have you tried putting your objects (i.e. value objects populated from the database query) as attributes on session or application scope?
anthony
Remote parameters should be any of the following:
1. Serializable objects
2. primitives
3. Arrays of primitives or Serializable
4. Instances of classes implementing Remote
anthony
I already figured it out. I had to add "application/msword" MIME type to my server configuration in WSAD 5.0.
Thanks.

I have a servlet that needs to redirect to an MS Word document (.doc). It displays as a web page. I want to display it in the user's machine by having it open up the user's Word application.
I also set the HttpResponse contentType to "application/msword" but it still does not work.
I'd really appreciate your ideas.
Thanks.

I'm working on session EJBs that implement web service calls. I'm having problems using arrays as parameters. In WSAD 5.0, I get a message (in the web service wizard) indicating that arrays are not supported data types.
Someone suggested that I should encapsulate my parameters in a separate object. I created a utility class and used it as my parameter in the web service call. However, WSAD throws back an message saying it's an unrecognized type.
What should I do?
Thanx.

Hi! I'm using WSAD v.5. I have an EJB project that implements the web service calls that are called from the client side; the EJB project is part of an EAR file. I also have a separate Java project which contains value object (VO) helper classes that are used by my EJB. The attributes in the VO's are usually of type java.lang.Long or java.lang.String.
My problem is that when I try to generate a proxy web service client to test my EJB as a web service call, the server starts up with an exception, generating a message like the following (taken from the actual exception message):
"C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphereStudio\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com. ibm.etools.server.core\tmp5\cache\localhost\server1\PT_DealNavigatorEAR\ PTWebTestClient.war\sample\PT_NotesBO\_Result.java:476: Incompatible type for method. Can't convert long to java.lang.Long.
pt1vo1notes1PTNoteVO6id.setNoteID(noteID7idTemp);"

I have created other EJB projects which also access the same Java helper project but the web service client executes flawlessly. I've tried overloading my VO so that I have setters for those attributes of type Long, but are overloaded with primitive long parameters instead. However, I get an error message in the web services wizard about type mapping conflicts.

I'm not sure where the exceptions are coming from. I'd really appreciate your assistance here.

Folks,
Thanx for the replies. I've been looking at the leads you've provided. Again, thanx!
