Hello everyone,

finally after 5 months of preparation i passed ocjp exam with 93% on 9th. i must say, i was quite surprised with my score :p. as everyone says the exam was very easy compared to the mocks(some were quite tricky though). i would suggest all certification aspirants to get a firm grip of each and every concept from k&B book. I would finally like to thank kathy sierra and Bert Bates for their amazing book, Devaka Cooray for Exam labs and all the ranchers. . i wish every one good luck

Thanks

Shu Wang wrote:Thank you. There is also one more thing I want to make clear. When I go through Pearson and find the exam details list below:

Exam Code: 1Z0-851
Exam Title: Java Standard Edition 6 Programmer Certified Professional Exam
Languages Offered;
Time Limit: Chinese Traditional; 150 minutes
English; 150 minutes
German; 150 minutes
Korean; 150 minutes
Spanish-Modern; 150 minutes

Why does it only have 150 minutes, not 180 minutes as said before? How many questions does it have?

you are welcome buddy
and yes time duration is changed. its only 150 minutes now and also minimum pass percent is 61

Hello Shu wang,

we cannot give java certifications through prometric anymore. from june 1st we pearson vue is now hosting sun certicication exams.
here is the link link
choose IT in category and oracle in testing program. you would have to register before you schedule the test though. you will get your sign in details with in a day.

hope this helps
Thanks and good luck

Asad Zubair wrote:Hi,

The following code snippet prints 15. I was expecting it to print 16.

It seems like it is not using the post increment (s++) to increment s by 1 after evaluating s as (s=5+5+5 = 15). This is surprising to me as s is being printed in the next line and I thought that would be enough for the post increment to kick in before the printing occurred. Could someone please clarify my doubts here ?

Hello Asad
try to put the whole expression in System.out.println() you will get 15 as a result.

System.out.println(s+=s+s++);

equals() is overridden in String class. equals() method with return true only if two references refer to the same object and have same value. so, in your code, first if test will fail as 't1' and 't2' do not refer to the same object. second if test will return true as 't1' and 't3' refer to the same String(which is in the String pool) .

The documentation contradicts this statement:
http://download.oracle.com/javase/1,5.0/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#equals%28java.lang.Object%29

firstly i would like to say sorry for my wrong understanding of equals() method in String and wrapper classes. i am totally confused about equals() method now.
so, equals() method in String and wrapper classes will return true if the values are same. in general if we dont override equals() method, then two instances of the same class type cant be equal.
for example:

but for strings and wrapper types it would return true if both instances have same values. am i right ?. i again apologise for the mistake
thanks a lott

Joe Okelly wrote: Hi,
Just wanted to add that if you want to compare the contents of the string then you might want to use "equals".
You might want to test the above code using equals and that tests to true in both cases.

Joe.

Hello buddy,

Congrats mate.. 91 is a pretty good one
i have got mine on this wednesday. tbh i am not really confident. my preparation is so and so. i am not good with objective 4.4 (wait(), notify() and notifyAll(). but i am just worried about this objective. were there any question on this objective??. i have heard a month ago that this object is not included in the exam. i know this is a stupid question.
and my scores in exm lab tests are.
diagnostics 40%, p1- 58%, p2- 55%, p3- 57%.

and congrats one again dude

The Oracle site says that the ID is 1Z0-851 but what is this 1Z0-851-JPN ?
Thanks,

Hello Asad,

IZ0-851 JPN is the japanese version of the test. IZ0-851 supports English, traditionalchinese, modern spanish versions. so, you should go for 1Z0-851 unless you wanted to try the test in japanese. lol

and anyone here know what modern spanish is ? :P
Hello guys,

i just registered for the test at pearson vue here in london. the test length according to my confirmation letter is 150 minutes.

thanks
