Hi,

I am working on a J2EE web-application. I would like to upgrade some of major open-source libraries from older version to newer one based on availability of libraries on maven repository.
For example of libraries : Google-Sitebricks, Jetty, JSON, Jackson, JUnit, HttpClient etc.
What would be the best way to ensure that the after upgrades, there are no side-effects/leakages happened in application.
Here, I tested the application's basic functionalities like sanity test to ensure its working or breaking the things.
I am wondering on what is the standard process need to be followed in such scenarios. Please suggest the effective & best approaches for this.
Thanks
I have added below lines to setenv.bat under %tomcat%/bin directory.

SET JACOCO="-javaagent:C:\jacoco-agent-jar\jacocoagent.jar=output=tcpserver,address=localhost,port=6300,destfile=C:\jacoco.exec,append=true,includes=*"

SET JAVA_OPTS= %JAVA_OPTS% %JACOCO%

And then restarted the tomcat server couple of times by changing output values etc, but no luck. I also checked after restart, whether Java_opts environment variable got set or not. But it got listed.

Thanks in advance. Please suggest on if anything I am missing here.

Not sure, I might using the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE).

Hi All,

I am working on different domain in an IT industry.During my spare time, I used to work on developing an application (Personal professional website) using Java technologies.
Like first aI developed the application using struts framework.Now I am upgrading the application using JSF and IceFaces.

A problem that I am facing everytime here is that I am pretty much poor in designing the webpages though I am well aware about HTML,CSS,JavaScript.

I feel that I cant put/organise the contents on page properly because of which I get very frustrsted. For example, a form even with strong business logic is not getting much points if its UI is not up to the mark.

Please guide on this so I can design the webpages more effectively that looks attractive!

The following lines of code helped me!

FacesContext.class.getPackage().getImplementationVersion()
FacesContext.class.getPackage().getImplementationVendor()
FacesContext.class.getPackage().getImplementationTitle()

JSF
I don't want to write mail server on my own. But how can I test whether my application (written based out of the tutorial) will work fine or not? Need more details on testing and implementation point of view.

Hi All,

I have joined a new project which makes use of jsf. There are 8+ applications, so I am wondering on how to check the version of JSF used in them?

Hi,

After completing MCA with SCJP certification , I worked for 9 months in a small company on Struts and hibernate. Then I joined other company and working on Application packaging since 1 year. Few months back this project was over, and I have tried atmost possible internally to get an opportunity to work on Java Projects. But the same didn't happened. So meanwhile I started to learn spring framework and Webservices on my own. Is it possible for me to make my career in Java again? Does any organisation will offer a job for me on java projects after such a career path?

Please suggest and guide me on what should be my approach?

Thanks in advance.
