After downloading some open-source software in a jar file, i.e., test.jar we can run it using command line like

At present, I want to learn how to integrate this jar file into a web-based applications. In other words, I want this jar file to keep running on a server. After user submitting the request through the webpage, this request can be transferred to the waiting jar file, and get the result thereafter.

How to fulfill this kind of task in Java framework? Thanks.

I have no previous experience on server programming, so I do not know whether java servlet is the correct tool for fulfill this kind of task? And if you can share any suggestion, hint, or example, that would be wonderful. Thanks.

The application should be command prompt one. At present, the debugging and testing process will be done in Eclipse.

In my current program, the input information is hard coded. For instance

If I want to change title1 to title2, I have to modify the source code and click "run Java application" in Eclipse. How can I change the program to allow the user dynamically input the parameter after clcking "run Java application".

For the computations involing diffent types, such as int and double, is the following approach a safe way in tems of no information lost

In my code, the computation can generate double value in its standard long format, like 0.469696968793869

If I just want to save it in a shorter format with just six digits, like 0.469697, and use it for later computation. How to do that? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Can I understnd the invoking sequence of this segment of code as follows:

At first, he run method at line 5 is called. Due to its particular parameter setting, 3 parameters, the compiler automatically uses the run method defined in line 13. ( if we only have one parameter in line 5, then compiler will use the run method defined in line 9 instead.

For the run method defined in line 9, it will call run method at line 10, which essentially is the run method defined at line 13.

Is my understanding correct?

Jesper de Jong wrote:Let's first look at the two methods in the class, lines 9 and 13. These are two methods both called run but with different arguments and a different return type. Note that in line 10, the first run method calls the other one (from line 13). In line 15, this method calls a run method in a completely different class (ClusterDriver) that you didn't show.

In the main method, on line 5, the run method of line 13 is called on a new Job object.

For the following segment of java code, the method of “run” occurs four times. I am quite confusing about the relationships of these four occurrences of “run”. Can you explain this to me? The original code is pretty long, I just keep the part that is related to my question.

After running some java program, the Eclipse compiler gives some error/waring messages such as

SLF4J: Failed to load class "org.slf4j.impl.StaticLoggerBinder".
SLF4J: Defaulting to no-operation (NOP) logger implementation

I do not understand what does the

Defaulting to no-operation (NOP) logger implementation

mean here? Should I treat it as a warning or an error?

I am trying to understand a java program, which has a code segment such as

I know the "for" loop should iterate every documents, but I just do not understand how to analyze the logic of this specific snippet

I have a java project, which runs fine on eclipse. Right now, I need to run it from command prompt, like java classpath ... How to setup this classpath based on the stored ones using in Eclipse.

I have an existing Eclipse java project, and need to export it to the war file for deployment. By googling, it turns out that I need to covert it to a dynamic web project at first. But the menu item for this conversion is disabled. I would like to know why.
