Hi Ranchers,

I was planning to study for GSSP Java Certification,
https://www.giac.org/certification/secure-software-programmer-java-gssp-java

I searched a lot for study material but the only option i found was to take the SANS Training's which are pretty expensive,
https://www.sans.org/course/secure-coding-java-jee-developing-defensible-applications#results

Can you please assist me with some books to refer (if there are any) ?

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks a lot for the clarification Scott

That makes a lot of things clear now.

I will wait until the paperback edition for your OCP in Amazon India arrives .

Is there any sample chapter available ? or maybe the index to have an overview ?
Hello Ranchers,

Wish you A Very Happy New Year

I am preparing for 1z0-813 and wanted to know which study materials as of now will be useful.

I have the following in mind,

1) Java 8 Lambdas
2) Java 8 in Action
3) Enthuware Simulator for the exam

That said, i saw that there are some other books as well which can be used for this exam. I need to buy the one suitable for the upgrade exam.
These are as follows,

1) OCA/OCP Java SE 7 Programmer I & II Study Guide by Kathy and Bert
2) OCA: Oracle Certified Associate Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide: Exam 1Z0-808 By Jeanne
3) OCP: Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 8 Programmer II Study Guide: Exam 1Z0-809 By Jeanne

I had referred the Kathy Sierrra book for OCPJP 6 and most likely the new one is the same with updates for Java 7.
That said please suggest me which ones of the above mentioned 3 should i go for as per your experience with them.

Any other resources will also be highly appreciated

Thanks a lot for your assitance
Congratulations Mohamad and best of luck for the next exam

Hi Ranchers,

I cleared OCPJBCD 5 Certification with 98% yesterday

It took me almost 4 months to be fully prepared.

Special thanks to Enthuware for such a full proof exam simulator and also to Mikalai Zaikin for his SCBCD 5.0 Study Guide.

I would like to mention all the references i used for studying in order to help anyone preparing for OCPJBCD 5.
1) EJB 3 in Action by Debu Panda -> This is the best book to study if you are learning EJB From scratch.
2) Enterprise Java Beans 3.0 5th Edition -> This contains more coding examples which will be pretty useful in understanding the actual features EJB has to offer.
3) EJB 3 Specification ( core + persistence + simplified)
4) Mikalai Zaikin's SCBCD 5.0 Study Guide -> A very useful study guide to clear your concepts.
5) Enthuware EJB+ V5 -> Keep solving the questions in the simulator and you will enjoy studying The simulator not only has explanation for why the answer is wrong but also for why it is correct.
The tests are properly set up so that you can determine which sections you need to focus on. For more information visit enthuware website

Do Refer the SCBCD Links page for more study material and information about the exam.

Wish You Good Luck For Your Cetifications

Hi Syed,

The prerequisite for OCEJWCD is OCPJP/SCJP which you have already cleared.
I'm not sure what you meant by the 'gap" though.
Go for OCEJWCD 6 as it the latest.

Hi Robert,

I want to opt for this certification.
Can you please post the links for mock exams that you came across during your search?

Best Regards,
Prajwal
Congratulations Syed

The path for you actually depends on whether you need to go For JEE or JME.

I would suggest you to go for JEE wherein your next target would be OCEJWCD 6/ OCWCD 5.

To start with, go through the licks provided here
