I've written a blog putting my experiences on recently clearing OCMJEA at http://joyofjustbeing.wordpress.com/2011/10/09/clearing-ocmjea-java-enterprise-architect-certification/

Feel free to put your comments and feedback. If you find something absolutely untrue in your experience, please let me know.
In the essay type test, there would be direct questions like - "How did you address NFR1, NFR2 etc in your proposed design?" . So, you have to answer it there, even if you don't do that while submitting the assignment.

Some people put a separate section in their assignment in the index.html with NFRs. You can also do that. But it's a repetition, since it also partly overlaps with "Risks and Mitigations". I did create a separate link talking about the main NFRs.

I think it's more for you than the examiner to talk it at several places
I received the all important "1%" mail today. Thanks to this forum and the kind members here who helped a lot.

I gave Part I on 22nd July, submitted assignment [Team Doctor] on 23rd August and completed the Essay Test on 25th August. Since then it has been a long wait. I already posted my experiences on Part I when I cleared it.

As I find time, I will write about my learnings from the exam.

May be this has been posted earlier in the forum , but a reminder . I was excited to see the 1st mail from Oracle in my inbox even though it means , my results won't come for another couple of months atleast.

Dear XXX ,

Due to high volumes and technical resource constraints, the delay in getting assignments graded has been extended. We sincerely apologize for this delay.

We understand that for some candidates, the delay has been excessive. Please know that we are working diligently to get these assignments graded and get your results back to you as quickly as possible. We realize that there is concern about the upcoming training requirement for the Java Enterprise Architect and Java Developer certifications and how it will affect candidates who have already submitted assignments but have not yet received their scores. Will these candidates be required to complete training? The answer is no in most cases. Please review the scenarios below to find out if you will be required to complete training. If you have any additional questions, please contact [email protected].

If you are notified of a passing score on your assignment and essay after September 30, 2011, you will receive your certification without being required to complete training if the conditions below have been met:
submitted your assignment and completed your essay by September 30, 2011
passed the Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect Certified Master Exam by September 30, 2011 (for OCMJEA candidates only)
**Candidates who do not submit all requirements on or before September 30, 2011 will be required to complete training in order to become certified.

If you are notified of a failing score on your assignment and essay after September 30, 2011, you will have the opportunity to receive your certification without being required to complete training if the conditions below have been met:
submitted your assignment and completed your essay by August 27, 2011
passed the Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect Certified Master Exam by September 30, 2011 (for OCMJEA candidates only)
resubmit the assignment within 30 days of receiving your failing score
pass the 2nd attempt

**Candidates who did not submit both assignment and essay by August 27, 2011 will not be considered for this exception. This policy was outlined in the announcement posted on the Oracle Certification website.”

Regards,
Oracle Certification Program

I took the part III test today and was surprised NOT to see the "review" link which I could mark to return to the question again. So, I had finish all the questions sequentially.
Later I found a question which was repeated in another form earlier, but since I couldn't revisit it, I had to write the same text all over again.
I have the same assignment.
It's funny game isn't . We want to pose questions related to our assignment, giving enough details, but just less than what would invite the moderators attention and subsequent deletion of posts.

Working on the assignment has been a fascinating journey for me. Makes me feel like a real-world architect lording over the Java EE space !
I received my practice test on the day of my exam and so went through it at a glance. The questions were definitely of similar complexity level. In fact I got couple of questions in the real exam very close to the practice questions. But the scope of OCMJEA is so vast, that 64 questions may not cover everything.

That said, it certainly helps simulating the real exam sceanario.
I think it's the 1Z0-865 exam code for Step 2 (Master Assignment)
Here is the link for the Oracle site which has it - http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=326

I'm reading the worked out assignment in Chapter 9 of the Book - SCEA Study Guide by Cade and Sheil. I have a question on the class diagram.
The class diagram shows wood, steel and concrete as marked with @Entity. As per the problem statement, I thought the details of the inventory comes from an already existing inventory and order management system. The planned system would just consolidate the availability of these items and create bids.

I don't see any reason why we would be persisting the wood , steel and concrete to the proposed system.
My question is even if certain objects don't need to be persisted to the proposed system , but are part of the Domain model - do we need to mark them as @Entity?

Any response most be most welcome!
I cleared part I of OCMJEA today with 70% score.
Wanted to share a few details for other's benefits -

I have an experience of 6+ years with mostly Web frameworks like Struts and JSF , SOAP-based Web Services and JDBC. I don't have any working experience with EJBs.
I prepared for 3 weeks for the exams , though I already knew topics like design patterns very well.

The questions were tougher than I anticipated. Many of the questions were similar to what I had seen at Javabeat Mock exams - http://www.javabeat.net/cert/scea/mock-exam/ . A few questions were also taken from the Practice test which Oracle sent .

Now for Part II and III
