Hey guys, im new to java and am wanting to disable a button say "20" if they do not have enough funds in their bank. I have had a shot at it but i keep getting "operator cannot be applied to java.lang.string,double. I'm pretty sure im missing something simple here.. =(

I know that it has been designed pretty bad =(, but i know of somebody using a combo box for users to select which account they want to transfer money to and it works perfectly. I assumed it would be very similar to what i am trying to do with a textfield. Would using String[][] mean i would have not make a new class? sorry but I've only just started using java.

Hey guys, after days of working through this code i believe i have nearly have it right except the transfer amount goes to another account instead of the one selected, i have spent hours trying different methods of getting it to transfer the amount to the designated account by the user. This is what i have so far...

if i add another String to the balance class String balance = atmData.getBalance1(); the correct output comes for that account that has had money transferred to it but it is not right for the other accounts. How do i get the correct balance to show for accounts that have not had their money deducted or increased and vice versa for the accounts that have had money transferred to them?

Thankyou for your help!, however i'm not too sure if those methods would work with my 2 dimensional array or would they?,sorry i'm fairly new to the whole java language =/. I will paste the full code of the ATMDataFile class to see if you think it could be done without having to make any account classes which would distrupt all the GUI's i have made. I see now that i have chosen the hard and confusing way of creating this bank account system =/. But my teacher has supplied me with this code, so i'm trying to make the best of it.

Sorry for the double post =(

Hi guys, i have been able to get this transfer function to work but only with one account. i'm not too sure how to get it working for the other account also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm putting the problem down to not being able to use more than 1 return statement?
