hi all,
I am trying to get familiar with the OLT. The StockQuote tutorial which comes with Websphere Samples says that "Start the OLT by giving the "olt" command at the command prompt. But I don't see that batch file at all in my bin directory. In fact I searched for the whole product installation directory and found nothing.
Then I tried to re-install Websphere 4.0 hoping that probably I missed out this advanced feature. But there also it never asked me anything about the OLT in the custom Installation.
Or does it appear from no where after I check the OLT options in the admin console and restart Websphere ?

hi all,
I am planning to write the websphere certification test (488). but i don't find enough practice questions anywhere on the net. the site http://www-1.ibm.com/certify/tests/sam488.shtml seems to have very limited no of questions. and another application called the Websphere@Whiz has only 30 questions in the trial version !!!
is it true that we are out of questions after so much time has passes since Websphere came to the market ? Does anyone know where else i can get some more questions for free ?

Hi Pauline,
Which is the forum where you moved the msg from Vasanth ? Because even i am writing the same test in a short time and it will be great if there is a forum for the same !!
Sorry for posting here. I wouldn't have if I knew the forum.

Hi Meghna,
I did as u said. But i am afraid there seems to be an error there also. i am copying the relevant part of the output of dumpnamespace below. if u will notice carefully no 14,15 and 16 are correct. but no 17 says some error. and i think that is the place where my bean's JNDI name should appear. i think so because just after that the JNDI name (jdbc/GsDataSource) of the DataSource associated with my bean is listed.
So what is this error ? how was this introduced ? may i add that i installed the bean from the command line using the SEAppInstall utitlity and everything went fine...exactly as mentioned in the tutorial. and another thing is that when i install any bean from the command line does it appear in the admin console under the "Enterprise Applications" node ? because for me its not appearing even if the command line says its successfully deployed the bean. even when i save the configuration and restart websphere !!

I do everything exactly as mentioned in the tutorial and everything goes fine. but i get this exception when trying to run the cleint.
Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: com/ibm/websphere/gettingstarted/ejbs/SimpleContainerManagedHome

hi all,
This is my first posting to this group. So hi again to all.
I am trying to run a thin client (a simple java program having a main method) to access a simple session bean deployed in Websphere 4.0 single server. Essentially i am trying to avoid using the launchclient utility which takes the .ear file as the parameter.
First i got the error which Anil faced which is java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.corba.se.internal.io.FVDCodeBaseImpl. but thanks to Razvan that problem was solved when I pointed my PATH to the IBM Jdk. However i still get another error which says
javax.naming.ConfigurationException: javaNameSpaceAccessor is not being set
Further when i consult the websphere 4.0 docs it mentions about istalling some java thin client from the CD which i don't find in the CD. it also talks about running a batch file before running the cleint called setupClient.bat but that file also doesn't seem to be there in the product isntallation directory.
Can anybody help please ?
Regards
