I CANNOT believe I forgot to mention Siri. I am this close to buying an iPhone 4S just for it! Yes, Siri indeed!

My list contains things we won't have. Like being able to use FaceTime with someone who has a Motorola Xoom. Or being able to print to any printer, not just the ones Apple says we can. Or maybe even having an extremely thin keyboard that slides out from the bottom ... see, listing my wishes is pointless :-).

I think we'll continue to see better cameras and faster CPUs. I think the browser will improve even more. I think we'll continue to see cool new native apps, like Reminder and Messages. But I don't think we'll see any physical hardware changes.

I'm sure there are, including the new QR codes and apps that compare prices when you shop! And many other ways to use your iPad for good -

A year ago I go the "Calculator" app and an app that told me how many calories were in various foods. I started the calculator each day at 1700, and subtracted the calories I ate all day. Once I got to 0, i stopped eating. Over the course of a year I went from 171 to 143. I'm stuck here now, but that's not the point! There are lots of ways to incorporate your iPad into everyday life.

After purchasing my first 3G iPad, and learning that I could get internet and email for only $15 a month, I did the unthinkable. I got rid of my $100 a month smart phone. My peers in the industry said I'd never make it. But I have, and I use a TracFone, spending about $20 a month. Since I work at home and can be away from my computer when I want to grocery shop, visit the local pub, or go to the gym, it's fine for me. I've slashed my data bill by a huge amount. Now this won't work for everyone, but it works great for me. It is like cutting the land line......it works for some, and it's a great money saver.

I enjoy TV on my iPad when I just want to sit in bed and not bother anyone. The big tv can be left off, and when the snoring starts all I have to do is walk away, iPad and TV show in hand :-).

I'm going to have to look into that. I've downloaded some podcasts but I have not encountered the problems you mention here. JB

That depends on the state of your iPad! If it's an iPad 1, iPad 2, or iPad 2 updated to iOS5!

In that vein:

1. Update to iOS5. Not a secret so much as a tip.
2. Use iMessage to text iPhone users so they will not incur a texting fee from a provider.
3. The new iOS5 lets you, FINALLY, swipe left and right to move among months in Calendar. Use this calendar now, and as updates become available, and hopefully Siri comes to the iPad, you can ask it questions like "Am I busy today? and get an answer.
4. The Top Free Apps in the App Store are generally awesome.
5. Set up Find My IPhone so you can find your iPad if it's lost or stolen, lock it, or wipe the data from it.

I haven't used this new feature yet, but there is a nice introductory page here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/photo-stream.html.

It's all about photos in the cloud though. So all of your iDevices must be iOS 5 and be set up to use the cloud. Then when you snap a pic, I assume, you have the option to store that pic in the cloud....which you can then access from any idevice you own.

That's what I'm getting from a quick glance.

I can't program or even access the programming on my DVR, and I *think* it's because it's not a feature yet. It may also be that you have to have a different box than I have. However, what it does allow me to do is watch about 30 channels on my iPad while in my home, which means I can go into a room or on the porch where there is no TV and still have access. I suspect all users will be able to manage their DVR with it someday.

Ah..Splashtop Streamer is an app I've installed on my iPad 2, and I've also installed it on my PC. It works like Go To My PC, from my iPad. Here's a pic of my computer desktop from my iPad....

Yes. It's very interesting and often difficult. I'm trying to write a book right now about the Kindle Fire, but I don't have one. It's hard to guess if, for instance, users without Wi-Fi access will be able to download apps from the Appstore and then transfer them to the Kindle FIre via uSB, how Mail is going to work, and what kind of browser it'll have. For instance, although I'm pretty sure there won't be an Netflix app, can users use Silk to go to Netflix.com and stream it? I just don't know how locked down it'll be.

As far as writing about the iPad, well, the next book is already partially written since the iPad 3 will be a superset of the iPad 2, plus all of the cool new iOS5 stuff. But what will be new?

I do a LOT of guessing and a lot of research :-).

You know, it wasn't so much the price I guess. I mean, I can pay that. But why go up SO much? Even my gym membership only goes up a couple of bucks. Beyond that though, I held on until they retracted the Flixter thing. It just all seemed so childish and weird. Do you know what I mean? That was kind of the last straw.

Now I switched to Amazon, and got the Prime Membership more for the free 2 day shipping than the instant videos. They do play on my Roku player though so I wouldn't have to buy anything new for my TV. But I am disappointed in the content. No Bones, for instance, and I can't seem to find a way to have an "instant" queue. It seems hit and miss for me so far. The other day I watched The Andromedia Strain....I miss Netflix, but I'm still a little peeved they went up SO much at one time.

I have two apps I use quite a bit on my iPad to watch television. The first is my Time Warner app. There must be 30 channels available and the picture is as good or better than a couple of my TVs. I also use the ABC Viewer. It's nice to be able to watch this weeks episodes of various shows. I used to have Netflix, before I got upset with the price increase.

What do you use?

I've been using SpashTop Streamer, but it seems a bit buggy - meaning sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn't. It also prompts me at my PC to update it more often than I'd like. This makes me a bit nervous, since I'm not sure if I can trust the publisher with my PC or not. What do you use?
