hi,

just getting started with aspectwerkz 2.0 and trying to figure out how to define a pointcut that will execute every single method call for logging purposes.

i've tried this:

and this (most classes are in com.company.level3.level4.level5.ClassName)

but still no dice. any suggestions?

thanks in advance

What do people think is the best Model MBean auto-gen tool out there? the jmxdoclet from the xdoclet project?

Hi,

I have a webapp whose persistence layer is provided by hibernate. the sessionfactory's datasource is configured via spring and is configured in a standard oracle -ds.xml file.

in our spring configuration file for the hibernate session factory, i have this property set:

<property name="hibernateProperties">
<props>
...
<prop key="hibernate.connection.autocommit">false</prop>
...
</props>
</property>

however, when i execute session.commit() in my DAO implementation, i get the following exception. i've used this same pattern in apps deployed on tomcat and weblogic, so i'm thinking this might be a jboss 3.2.6 issue. i didnt see a bug entry in jboss's JIRA. anyone know if I'm missing a config setting somewhere?

thanks in advance,
t

hi,

I can successfully deploy an oracle DS on JBoss 3.2.X and I can access that DS via JNDI from applications running in the container without issue. However, I am trying to run unit tests that require that DS. The unit tests are executing in a separate VM.

I believe the issue is because the DS is still being deployed to the java: context in the JBoss JNDI tree.

I added this to my -ds.xml:

<use-java-context>false</use-java-context>

however, i still see this in the jboss logs:

12:08:22,355 INFO [jdbc/OWDS] Bound connection factory for resource adapter for ConnectionManager 'jboss.jca:service=LocalTxCM,name=jdbc/OWDS to JNDI name 'java:/jdbc/OWDS'

i also tried adding this to my web.xml:

<resource-ref>
<description>OW Primary DB Connection</description>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/OWDS</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
</resource-ref>

and this to my jboss-web.xml:

<resource-ref>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/OWDS</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<jndi-name>java:/OWDS</jndi-name>
</resource-ref>

and i get this error

java:comp/env namespace is only available from within a J2EE component

any thoughts?

thanks in advance

ahhh - apparently its not "Threshold" but "threshold"
Does anyone know if there is built in functionality to have different appenders listen at different log levels? Say for example, I want my console to only spit out info or higher msgs, while i want debug and higher in my logfile.
do i have to create a wrapper around the appenders i want to use, or is this already available?
i cant seem to google anything and i didnt see anything in this forum already. thanks much

oh i did try the Threshold=WARN declaration in the configuration file, but it didnt seem to work. i tried using it on log4j v 1.2.5 and 1.2.8.
thanks

yeah,
i am evaluating a vendor's software and working with them to try and track down some odd behavior and thought it might be useful if i could see the classloader output.

Does anyone happen to know if its possible to see the classloader output for a webapp? akin to the -verbose:class flag? can you do this for a single webapp or do you have to do it for all of them?
thanks

hate to answer my own question, but i rm'd the dir and replaced it form the tarball and it worked!
so -
make sure you DL the apr-tomcat tarball and put it inside the tomcat-connectors-src/ dir.
then run support/buildconf.sh
then run ./configure --with-apxs=[path to apxs]
then run make
and then everything compiled perfectly. so strange...

howdy all.
i tried searching around on here and on google for some decent instructions on how to build the mod_webapp.so, but with no such luck.
i downloaded the jakarta-tomcat-connectors tarball. i have apache13 and tomcat4 installed.
i downloaded the apr src and ran buildconf.sh and then did a ./configure --with-apxs=....
that went off w/o a hitch. i then went to apache-1.3/ and did a 'make', but it failed with the following output. anyone have any ideas whats wrong?
thanks in advance

PS - am i correct in assuming also that mod_jk is for tomcat3 only?
thanks

Anybody use netbeans extensively? Anyone find it weird that if you're building an app, you have to set the Main class over and over again? A buddy of mine reported this as a bug, but the reply was that this was a "feature." Now can someone explain this to me?
I used to be a VisualCafe junkie(mostly cause all my projects seemed to involve WLS5.1), but i wanna move on. What're peoples thoughts on Forte, Eclipse and Netbeans?
thanks
Hi,
does anyone know of any good tutorials on apache's regexp package? also for jdk1.4 regex pattern writing? i have a project that is limited to jdk1.3, but i would also like to learn how to write patterns for 1.4.
anything on even basic examples like how to match against a "date" pattern of "MM/DD/YYYY" and not have it match on "MM////DD////YYYY" or MMM/DDDDDDD/YYYYY, etc. would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance.

hey,
you may have already done this, but i think i had a similar problem before and it took me forever to figure out that i needed to start up the "db2java" process in DB2 to accept incoming jdbc connections.
give it a shot if you havent yet...
