I just finished a degree in maths, I know what hours and hours of exams feel like! :P I did 2 years of computing courses (as part of my degree) which included Java, C, C++ and some algorithms and data structures stuff. So even though I know what the subject matter is, I don't know the details of what is expected of me in the exam. I really don't want to sit around for two/three months waiting for the book to come out either, so I just want a study guide that is approximate to what the exam is so I can get started ASAP.

I presume that the SCJA guides will be good enough (given I use other resources to study the SE7 differneces)?

Its been a few years since I did JAVA, so I'd still need a study guide just to be on the safe side.

Ok thanks, just for clarification though:

SCJA study material ~ OCAJ study material?

Also where can I get a better syllabus than the "examination topics" that oracle has on it's site? I've done a fair bit of Java before and I might be ready for the exam before some of these SE 7 books come out.

I wish to take the OCAJ SE 7 and I don't know which book (except the one that hasn't been released) goes with it. How are people currently studying for it? Is there a study guide for the SE 5/6 exam and how are people currently studying for that exam?
