I am new in Machine Learning and developing a sample application having around 100 attribute using java(android device).
I am slightly confused as to what "Feature Selection" and "Feature Extraction" .
What I studied from sources is

Feature Extraction :-Feature extraction involves simplifying the amount of resources required to describe a large set of data accurately. When performing analysis of complex data one of the major problems stems from the number of variables involved. Analysis with a large number of variables generally requires a large amount of memory and computation power or a classification algorithm which overfills the training sample and generalizes poorly to new samples. Feature extraction is a general term for methods of constructing combinations of the variables to get around these problems while still describing the data with sufficient accuracy.

Feature Selection:- Feature Selection methods choose features from the original set based on some criteria, Information Gain, Correlation and Mutual Information are just criteria that are used to filter out unimportant or redundant features. Embedded or wrapper methods, as they are called, can use specialized classifiers to achieve feature selection and classify the data set at the same time.

I just want to know that how can extract the feature using java code ? is there any standard library like weka or Java ML or some other provide facilities for feature Extraction. ?

or We have to develop our own algorithms .

I have read PCA and SVD are used for Feature Extraction . How can I use them in my Java Code.

Sorry if I have write any misleading term.

I don't know this is right forum to post my query for machine learning , please move it in appropriate forum if this is incorrect forum.

Thanks,

Hi all,
I'm developing a RESTful service based on Spring 3.2. I'm facing a problem with a controller handling mixed multipart HTTP request, with a Second part with XMLor JSON formatted data and a second part with a Image file .

I am using @RequestPart for rthe request

User.java will be like this-

To my understanding, using the @RequestPart annotation I would expect the XML multipart section to be evaluated depending on its Content-Type and finally un-marshalled into my User class (I'm using Jaxb2, the marshaller/unmarhaller is properly configured in the application context and the procedure is working fine for all the other controller methods when I pass the XML data as body and use the @RequestBody annotation).

But what is actually happening is that, although the file is correctly found and parsed as MultipartFile, the "user" part is never seen and the request is always failing, not matching the controller method signature.

I reproduced the problem with several clients type and I am confident the format of the multipart request is ok.

Please help me to solve this issue,May be some workaround will be there to receive mixed/multipart request.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Rechard Thanks for the Reply,

But that was nothing nonsense, I just asked that am I doing any configuration error, I was dam sure that there was nothing wrong with the code, that why i placed the code.

anyway
Actually That all was due to wrong installation,

I did wrong first is that I installed the policy files into Program files/jdk_1.7.0_13/jre/lib/security, but the JRE which was used is located in Program files/jre7

Now its working fine .

Thanks

Hi Maya ,
You can do two things

1. Either You remove *.html to *

or
2. On your controller you can have

@Maya

Sorry but just want to confirm , Have you put your index.jsp page outside the WEB-INF folder ?

If I want to create a website like this forum would JSP and Servlets be good for the job ? Should I use something else ? How do i decide if JSP and Servlets are the right tool for the problem at hand ?
Please advise.

I think if you are planning a website like this forum where you need complete MVC architecture , you need database connectivity, you need authentication, you need security of your data so i willl advise you that you should use some framework like Spring with hibernate, Only JSP and Servlet will not be sufficient without any framework. Also management of your code will be easy if you will use any framework.

JSP
For sorting and pagination data, you can use Jquery for showing and hiding the data, they are more effective than server side implementation of java.
There are lot of plugin available.
you can check these links for example

and

Regarding to IDE, STS and Eclipse , You can choose any one ,I am using Eclipse which i found more comfortable.
