Hi Jeanne & Scott,

I am little aware of the 'new' features that Java8 introduced. I am kind of intrigued by the functional programming aspect of it. How do I change my way of 'java' coding (from java 6 to jave 8). eg: the way we can write lambdas etc,

Thanks again,
K
Hi Jeanne & Scott,

I am working as Java, J2EE programmer / developer for some years now (9). I never took any certification yet or so far. I am thinking about taking OCAJP 8. How does OCAJP 8 certification make a difference in my career at this point ? or will it make a huge difference ? Please advice or share thoughts.

Thank you,
K
Would reading a book or getting a certification, make a developer a good architect ? How much of the practical technical expertise would one require to go in that direction ?
specifically, how does one decide that a particular frame work or a design suits the project they are working on ?

I'd like to suggest one for "CouchDB".

Thanks,

Where do I suggest for a new "forum" branch.
Like "Ranch Office", I'd like to suggest something to the forum creators. Where do I do that ?

Thanks,
K

but when you are transitioning between fields, you dont have experience..

how do you prove your talent / expertise in the new field ?
do you have to start from scratch when you change fields ? in the sense, like an intern ? one way to prove is probably certifications ?
but do companies really care about certifications these days ? or the experience levels ?

is it something like design patterns. you define a pattern on how mongo db can be applied to a business ?

Apparently some one already envisioned this thought.
