@Maneesh Godbole : Please share your idea of implementing "study group" in this project.If you wouldn't agree on it then please lemme know on what you agree?What are the possible uses of it?
6 years ago
@Maneesh Godbole : Yes you're right.Regarding study group idea what my proposal is,if a student/faculty wants to start a project/research/study about a particular topic then he/she can search who're the people related to that particular topic of interest.Then he/she can send a mail to all of them through intra mail system mentioning about his/her wants.The Mail will be delivered to each and everyone related to that subject of interest(for eg. student who are having java programming as a compulsory subject).After going through the mail interested students can mail back to him/her And a study group is formed.

Does this impress you?

@Maneesh Godbole : Thanks a lot for these wonderful ideas.I completely agree on point #3 and #4.You're a dude.And the same idea also can be implemented for faculties,like enter the name of a faculty and know what subjects in which classroom and when he's taking which class.
Time table + lecture room feature is already in my list of ideas.
Coming to the news part two buttons can be made available,1.News for your Batch students 2.News for entire Btech students.A noteworthy point is we don't have any tags for college news in our college OIS. So i don't think it will be possible to categorize news according to the tags.Is there any alternative to this?
Now i could not get how study group feature can be implemented.I mean what features it can provide to students,can you please explain a bit more on it?
And your ideas are very interesting.It would be very helpful indeed if you can provide some more ideas too.

@Ulf Dittmer : Thanks for your response.No i can't choose another project and i don't even want to.As a beginner to android programming i found this project kinda cool and i also do believe this project can be enhanced by generating and implementing unique ideas just like @Maneesh Godbole did share his ideas.Could you share your ideas keeping in mind that i can't choose any other project right now.

My android widget for OIS(online information system for our college) project is going on.While i work on my ideas regarding this i wanna make it unique by adding some interesting and new features which was never used in our college OIS. Following are my ideas.By now i have developed the front end part of the widget.Server side scripting part using php is gonna start soon.

By this android widget for OIS the students and faculties will be able to see their attendance,timetable and notice.The timetable will be downloaded to local database and can be browsed even if the phone doesn't get connected to wi-fi inside or outside campus. Only those information will be displayed which are relevant to the particular student/faculty.The widget can further be enhanced to avail features like setting up an alarm for certain important activities like assignment submission final date, internal exam date, class timings etc.

Along with these ideas i need some more unique ideas to make this android widget more valuable for our college.Any ideas regarding student information system (or) faculty information system (or) any added features ideas are welcome.

Depends on what you mean by extraction. If you mean two new arrays, which contains a copy of the elements of the original array, then allocate the two new arrays, use a loop, and copy the elements.

However -- and this is one of the cool things about C and pointer arithmetic -- if you mean for the two new arrays to be backed by the original array, then you can do it with pointers. In C, a pointer behaves just like an array (or more correctly, an array behaves like a pointer). So, the "b" array is just an int pointer, pointing to the zeroth element of the "a" array. And the "c" array is just an int pointer, pointing to the second element of the "a" array.

Henry

Thank you..I wanted to make separate arrays which are independent of the array "a".Did it using memcpy.

Actually i could use ALLOW FROM xxx.xx.xx.x(my ip adress) but i don't have a static ip. So is there any way to use php,so that it can automatically get the current ip and set it in the .htaccess?

If you could get the IP it's most likely the internal router IP (192.168.x.x) rather than the public router IP. Once you have your IP, I don't think you can "dynamically" change the .htaccess file.

Actually what do you want to do exactly? Reading the content of the .htaccess file? Browsing the files in directory?

If it is the latter, then you can simply write a PHP script and the .htaccess file is not needed at all.

The whole directory listing is restricted if .htaccess is present in that directory. This is exactly what i want for every user who tries to access the directory,however i want myself to have access to that directory listing for me only being the owner of those files. Without having a static ip,how to achieve it,that's my concern.

PHP
While i try to access the .htaccess file its saying access forbidden,which is obvious. But the listing of all other files also getting displayed,i.e no restrictions are imposed on those files which are under the same directory as the .htaccess. However i want to restrict everyone but myself from those files too. Here is my httpd.config

inside directory of httpd.config
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks Includes ExecCGI

AllowOverride ALL

Require all granted

<Files ".ht*">
Require all denied
</Files>

my .htaccess file
# deny everyone but myself
<Limit GET POST PUT>
Options -Indexes
Order allow,deny
Deny from all
</Limit>

Henry you're a gem! Thanks man. I didn't know about the port forwarding concept. So was having issues there,with those ports. Now solved. I also learnt many new stuffs.."" Thanks again..""

I don't understand what the "conflict" is that you mention, though.

I have developed a java program which has a server and a client program. The client program is needed to be run by my friend who is is a different city where as i would run the server program. This program works as long as i put the ip information as the internal ip address,in the client program.(inside the home network only) What i want is to have a single IP which can be used by the client program,anywhere over internet to run the client program.Without using servers isn't it possible? If no,then does free server providers like www.serversfree.com allow these facilities?

When i connect to the internet using my router, the ipv4 address is x.y.z.a,where as,when i use sites like whatismyip to verify my ip,they show a different ip!..I know there must be some configuration issues with the router settings,But if i make somehow the ip address Static(which i see from those sites),Could it be possible to accomplish connections with other computers using that ip? What's the benifit of using static ip?

->Click on servers
->Tomcat server will be displayed,Now right click there and goto properties
->General->Location->click on the switch location button
->Next on the left hand side panel,click on servers
->Except Tomcat v7.0 Server at localhost-config there will be another server like Tomcat v7.0 Server at localhost.server,Double click on it
->Under server locations select the 2nd radio button i.e use tomcat installation
->Now save this and you are good to go
->RESTART THE SERVER

Hopefully this helps!
