Could you point me in the direction of a tutorial that will teach me how to do that because I don't even know where to start

I pass the clientID to the method so it knows which row in the database table to update, is that what you mean?

So do I need to return something else from my update method?

I have changed it to use a panelGrid with ui:repeat. However, I am still having the same issue.

Yes, everything is inside a form. I tried a panelGrid initially but I don't know how to use that to get the functionality I need. For example, my ui:repeat has #{clientsPageManagedBean.selectedClient} for its value, how can I do the same with a panelGrid when it does not have a value attribute? Or do you mean to use a panelGrid within my ui:repeat?

Hi guys,

I am trying to update my database with the values in input fields. The problem I am having is that nulls are being added to the database instead of the values in the fields.
Here is some of my code:

Any suggestions would be a big help. I have been stuck on this for a few weeks now.

I didn't think so, that was just what I understood from your earlier reply.
EDIT: I have reread it and see how I misinterpreted it.
I will get to work on changing my code to use DataModels.
Thanks for all the help. I am not used to JSF so all of this is new to me.

So if I need to retrieve an entry from the database based on a particular clientID, I am supposed to have a separate get method for each entry? Without knowing how many entries there are? Or how many are going to be added in the future?

Edit: Forgot to thank you for the connection pool suggestion. Looking in to that now

Hi guys,

I am having more trouble with JSF. I have three tables, two were created using dataTables and the third was created using ui:repeat as I was struggling to find an alternative that would enable me to get the layout I needed(headings along the left column instead of the top row, if you know of a better way I would welcome your suggestions). Anyway, my problem is, that the table made using ui:repeat isn't showing up until after the parameter has been passed to it and I want it to always be on show, even when it is empty.
Here is my code:
This is the bean

And here is my xhtml file:

Hi Guys,

I am reading from a database(SQL Server 2012) and storing that information in a ResultSet. I am then trying to display that information using a DataTable. The problem is, only some of the information is being displayed and I can't figure out why.

Here is my managed bean

And this is my JSF code

Any ideas? The ID and the commandLinks are being displayed but the Client is not.
Edit: I don't have a lot of experience with JSF so any tips are welcome

The goal is to just switch to that new page. Is there a particular area of that IBM thing I should be looking at?

Hi there,

I am currently working on a project where I have a dataTable, containing some of the information for a specific database table, with commandLinks at the side which I need to bring me to a new page(another jsf file that I have to display the relevant information there) and display only the row of data selected. I've been racking my brain about this and have been unable to figure out a way to do it. Any pointers?
