Hi Guys,
Is there anyway I can set a standard size for my JFrame, even though I might change the resolution of my screen/monitor?
Is there any standard way I can design a swing application to meet standard resolutions?
If you dont know what I am talking about, and have a working swing app...try playing around with different screen resolutions. Then you would know what I am talking about.
Thanks.

I am adding a JTable to a JScrollPane...which sits on a JPanel
My problem is how can I reduce the size of the JViewport so that it is exactly the size of the JTable...right now...when I fit the JTable in the JScrollPane, there are huge gaps both width and height wise.
I have tried using several methods setting maximum size for JScrollPane etc, and even setting size for JViewport...but as soon as I add a JTable to it, everything falls back to the original problem.
Anyone has faced this problem before? Have links to code? Thanks.

of course this could apply to any other character as well...I just wanna know how would one approach this problem. Do I have to play with fonts? UIManager? Unicode?

I posted this earlier in Java General forum :-(
But let me be more specific this time...
Is there any way I can on a JLabel print a "tm" (trademark) symbol from extended character set/extended ascii ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
Is there any method for swing components say, JFrame to set it to its maximum size of the screen/monitor window when I want it to show/display. I know you have, setSize, setMaximumSize, etc. all but they all take parameters (Dimension).
Thanks in advance!

How do you print characters from extended character set...in java? and display a symbol.
This may well be a dumb question and have a simple answer.

Is it required to catch exceptions throw by your code in java.lang even the method body specifically throws an exception?
Look at the code block below:
try{
// somewhere here I have some other code that uses parse() to parse a string into DateFormat
// and then I have this code
Integer.parseInt(SomeString);
} catch (ParseException excp) {
// some code here
}
Notice I do not specify NumberFormatException in the catch block which is what Integer.parseInt() throws...but suprisingly the compiler does not bother to point that out to me. So what's going on here?
