That was the correct word, and the misunderstanding is all yours I'm afraid. A troll is a common term, which originated in the usenet newsgroups and has widespread use in web forums as well, which is to indicate an individual who posts inflamatory comments merely to get a rise out of people, with no intentions of carrying on a serious discussion. It's not "low-level language", it's common parlance. If you don't recognize it as such, that is not his problem, it's yours.

What ever you think the meaning of the word to you, you must have kept it to yourself. The other gentleman was getting offended and repetedly asking not to use the word. Thats the signal, U must stop using that word. Instead you were using it still. A some body said, I should not expect much form an average american, sheriff or what ever

BTW there might be some spelling mistakes or grammer mistakes, pl forgie me for that, i am not very good at american (english ??)

If you DO NOT understand, I can explain things to you
But if you DO NOT WANT to understand, I cannot help it.
Hey, do I sound pro H-1 or anti H-1, u guys decide.
BTW, it is a shame on your part Thomas, being a sheriff, you are using such a low level language like troll. Pl be choosy at words as that shows your mentality and personality.

Hi,
I dont have much exp with tomcat, are u sure tomcat is an app server ? To my knowledge it is not.
Check out the documentation for connection pooling, I am sure u will get some pointers. Documentation of weblogic is pretty good, but again it is for weblogic.
I am really sorry my friend, as I said, I dont have much exp with tomcat.

In the meantime, end the program, terminate the visas giving 60-days or so for people to get their affairs in order. People who have already applied for legal residency prior to the termination of their visas should have their visas extended until a decision is rendered on their application. There would probably be enough forewarning to enable individuals whose intent it was to immigrate to make the proper applications before their visa was terminated. For those who had no intentions to seek citizenship, it would be time for them to hit the road.

Putting in other words, Jason, what you are saying is, even though a H1-B candidate is on status, just scrap his visa, and send him out of the country. Is this what you are trying to say ? If so, I am sorry at your state of mind. I can understand that the present situation is making you depressed but please for God sake be sane and think decently. As Kalpana said somewhere in this thread, it is absolutely absurd to say that all H1 should go, even though they have a status.

Hi Sam
If u can paste the code, it would be more helpful.
Hi,
If you are using an app server like WebSphere or Weblogic, they will have an inbiult facility of DB connection pooling. Check up with yoour app server decumentation.
If you are going for a regular web-server, which is not an ideal situation, you can write your own Connection Pooling class here is one example form sun connection pooling
if(5.equalsIgnoreCase ("Lake Placid"))
{
System.out.println("OK..I got it");
}
else {
System.out.println("OOPS..I am wrong");

Hi Prog,
It would be more helpful if you paste your code.
Lets say I have a class which implements Runnable interface.
class MyThread implements Runnable {
private boolean running = true;
....
...... //ur code goes here....
public void run() {
while(running) { //keeps in an infinite loop
//do what ever you want to do.
}
}
public void stopRunning() {
//sets the running to false and run() exits
running = false;
}
}
public class ThreadHandler {
//creat an array to hold 5 threads.
Thread mythread = new Thread[5];
for(int ni = 0;ni<5;ni++ ) {

//create an object of class implementing Runnable
MyThread m = new MyThread();

//add it to the array
mythread[ni] = m;

//create a new thread object with the runnable class as argument and start.
new Thread(m).start();
}

public vodi action performed(ActionEvent e) {
for(int ni = 0;ni<5;ni++) {

//get the thread form the array, this thread is runnig now.
MyThread m = mythread[ni];
//call the stop method which will set the running to false.
m.stopRunning();
}
}
}
}
Hi,
I am a bit confused over what is being Thread Safe.
Suppose I have a multi threaded program accessing a Hashtable, when thread A is accessing the hashtable, thread B can also access it and corrupt the data. Is this what is called not being Thread Safe ??
If I make the hashtable synchronized, that makes it Thread Safe, am I right ??
Thanks in advance.
Sim Sim.
I suggest everybody to watch 'PUSHPAK'. This is an Indian movie but cannot be associated with one language as it dose not have any dialogs. Everything is conveyed thru expressions. It is really worth watching it.

Hi Peter,
The following is an extract from EJB 2.0 Spec.
The enterprise bean must not attempt to manage threads. The enterprise bean must not attempt
to start, stop, suspend, or resume a thread; or to change a threads priority or name. The enterprise bean must not attempt to manage thread groups.
These functions are reserved for the EJB Container. Allowing the enterprise bean to manage threads would decrease the Containers ability to properly manage the runtime environment.
It says that thread management can be done but not advisable as it will decrese the efficiency of the app server.
Hi,
Not sure about this, why dont u try JTA. Using transactions u can put a bunch of JDBC code in a block. It is either execute all or execute none situation. I mean to say if there are three statements, 2 are executed and 1 fails to execute, then the other 2 gets rolledback automatically.
