You may check your command prompt, see what type of errors thrown there. Sometime the problem is just that the JspParser won't recognize those special character, eg. © means your copy right sign.
Just my 2 cents

Kathy,
Excellent point. Add my 2 cents: In real world, the most problems are not the technology itself, rather how we are going to implement the business logic into something like EJB. So I definitely agree that you DON'T have to be an expert on every field to write ejb.
Back to your book, there is a chapter about pattern and performance in EJB. Is this something like "best practice" or "design pattern" of ejb, and how much it is weighed in the exam?
Thanks,
Kevin Cao
The problem I had is a browser problem. I need to make acrobat as helper application. So in my adobe reader(6.0), edit->preference->internet, deselect Display PDF in browser. Netscape(7) doesn't have this problem.
Thanks,
Kevin
I keep getting "file doesn't begin with %PDF-" when I tried to download the ejb2.0 spec. Anyone has the problem before?
Thanks

Congrats Leon,
Did you use ejb at work? Or you took ibm exam before, if so, what's the different between these two? It is so nice to get a decent score in such short period of time. Good job.

I try to build a sample struts project on eclipse. When I run the build.xml, I got this error:
Buildfile: C:\personal\development\Projects\struts-example\build.xml
BUILD FAILED: java.lang.VerifyError: (class: org/apache/xerces/parsers/IntegratedParserConfiguration, method: configurePipeline signature: ()V) Incompatible type for getting or setting field
The version of my eclipse is 2.1 and I download ant 1.5.3.
I replace all the IDE's ant configuration files with my own installation's, plus tools.jar(so I can compile the java code) Anyone has the same problem before?
Thanks

I tried the example by Thomas of struts1.1, I followed all the instructions from the article, I got a blank page. When I do view source, I only get those Javascripts from validator-rules.xml. I am running tomcat4 on win2k.
Can someone offer me some help?
Thanks,

Thanks Joe,
I think this is exactly what I am looking for. I will get a copy of your book either from here(I hope )or buy one later on.
Kevin
Hi Joe,
I am very new to Eclipse. Our company just switch almost everything to open source recently. JBuilder->Eclipse, source control tool->cvs, focus on Tomcat as application server, use MySql as db. Lots of catchup work to do. Only plugins I have done so far is download sysdeo for tomcat and it is quite simple. Hope your book can cover those grounds we need.
Thanks,
Kevin Cao
I reinstalled tomcat with a full installation, now I can see the "Apache Tomact" in service. But the prolem still there. I start Tomcat through Eclipse, it works fine whenever I was connecting with the internet. I think my problem is with my windows2000, it doesn't clear those instances of Tomact in those ports. Is there anyway to fix this? Your help is much appreciated.

I had the same problem (using eclipse), so what is the name of the services I should change in control panel.
Thanks

I passed scwcd today. Not a good score, but I am happy that I can get over with it. Only used study kit and some free mock exams. Exam is fairly easy, you don't need any other resources. I will work on the new SCBCD next.
Thanks

Panku,
Your code looks fine. Just some suggestions:
1. Since your RemoteDataImpl is a wraper class of Data, why create Data and Lockmanager instance in there? The purpose of ConnectionFactoryImpl is to create RemoteDataImpl.
2. I hard-code my database location in both cases, and it should be in the same directory as server.jar. Just want to keep things simple.
3. Also, you can provide a main class in ConnetionFactoryImpl to registry this object. And it will be your main class of your server.jar.
HTH,
Kevin Cao
Joseph,
Thanks for your reply. My biggest concern is it will only devalue the values of the certifications from SUN. How many people can tell the difference between scjd and scjp outside java community? How many people can tell the diference between scwcd, scbcd, scea inside java community? And every certification will expire in 2 years. The new EJB will definitely make lot of folks who are preparing their scea rethink their schedules.
This is really a delima, people who gets certifications intends to get more, like myself. We see people get his scwcd in a week, and we will see people pass the new ejb in three days(those who has passed scea before, and there is the 400 free vouchers promotion)... No offense, just reality. Wish I could do so as well, but the bigger question is what I really get from those certifications.
My 2 cents.
