Hi,
Which software is recommended for part II ?
are the expensive visio or rational rose usually used -- or is freeware available?
thank you,
rodge
I just wanted to point out that the Apress Developer Certification book (Mehran Habibi) lets you download the full source code -- which enables you to run the example and print the source code to annotate.
The RHE Complete Java Certification book does not provide this.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was unable to locate the source code.
By the way -- I have purchased both books. They both are good, but lacking the source code is a major downfall to me.

Hi,
I have an interview next week for EJB development.
I have SCJP, SCWCD, + will take SCEA pt.1 in few days. also, master's degree from respected school. no experience.

I am in FL (salaries tend to be lower here, but no state income tax).
thank you very much for any advice!

Is it enough to understand the Java APIs with SAX/DOM, or does one need to also study the VB API and know the differences ?
Are the code samples on the exam given mostly in Java or VB ?
Thank you very much for any insight...

Seems like this exam requires quite a bit of time to study for -- it seems to be very different from SCJP by not just asking about syntax mostly.
Friends,
After mastering Java it will be very easy to learn C# and I would like to get a C# certification. I have seen some member signatures have this cert. Can someone please share their experience with this exam and some additional links/books to study for the exam.
Thank you kindly,
Rodge

I will graduate college in one month and have decided that it will be very easy to learn C# and I would like to get a C# certification. I have seen some member signatures have this cert. Can someone please share their experience with this exam and some additional links/books to study for the exam.

I would advise not to be tricked into responding to recruiters' ads. With very few exceptions, it's a waste of time.

I do agree it is a bad idea. But, I am curious, how does a recruiter work? Do they even have an affiliation with the company?
Thank you for all of the helpful replies...

I am seriously considering this certification. Can someone please tell me the benefits of it. Especially having xml AND java knowledge?
any insight is greatly appreciated
Hi,
I would like to get a job with J2EE -- especially EJBs. Do I NEED to pick up non-J2EE Java experience first?
I am soo pessimistic about finding a job since so many ads require so many crudentials.
I graduate with my master's in MIS next month + am SCJD + SCWCD. Also, I am thinking about pursuing the IBM XML certification. Any tips/insight would be greatly appreciated...

Hi,
From what I've read in this discussion group it seems that using job websites is useless. (one thing I haven't read that bothers me is that it seems many of these ads are placed by a recruiting company)
I plan on calling local companies + asking what technologies they use and if they use J2EE then I will mail a nice cover letter/resume.
Any insight would be appreciated...

Hi,
I have a simple chat application using JSSE. I will demonstrate it in class at school. How can I use an Ip address, rather than a host name ?
thank you,

Hi,
I was just curious -- those of you that have already passed the SCWCD -- how helpful was the certificate in searching for a job?
I graduate this semester (no experience!) and I figured i will not search for a job until I pass SCWCD.
With no experience I worry I will have some difficulty.
But the SCWCD will help in applying for jobs that use Enterprise Java Beans.
thank you for any replies,
Rodge
