Thank you all.

I have one class diagram, one component diagram and one sequence diagram for each use case (7). I used Java Studio Enterpise 8 to draw all the diagrams. It has a very nice UML tool.

My class diagram follows the one in Cade's book. It seemed the grader did not like it very much. The component diagram shows all the nodes from the clients to the web tier, and to the business tier, from left to right. For sequence diagram's alternative flow, I used a condition statement and put a note linked to the point that the alternative flow starts.
Congrats!!

How many classes in your class diagram? Did you provide attributes and method names of the classes? Did you change the multiplicity of the BDM? How many components in your components diagram? Did you follow Cade's book for the assignment? Thanks.

Congrats!! That is a good score.

How many classes do u have in your class diagram? Do you show any attributes and methods of the class? How many sequence diagrams? Also, did you change the multiplicity of the BDM? Thanks.
Interesting to know, as petstore class diagram shows all those classes. Is there any resource from SUN that says what elements should go to class diagram and/or component diagram?
Do you include controller and other MVC model helper classes in your class diagram? Does your class diagram contains only the EJB tier classes? Also, did you mean you show only the method names without parameters passing in? Thanks.
Congrats..

They really gave you hard time to pass it. Could you share with us why did you fail the first time? I think this info could help us a lot to avoid big mistakes. Thanks.
Congrats! Liu. What UML tool do you use? How many nodes in your component digram and do you group them based on tiers? For the class diagram, do you include attributes/methods in the class? Also can you share with us about the resources you used for this assignment?
Are Whizlab and arc2patterns questions same?
Many of the questions are the same and/or similar in these 4 sources, although Whizlab may have more questions and arc2patterns can have part II information if you buy the bundle. My suggestion is that if you do decide to buy the commercial ones, then don't do javaqueries first. I did free ones first, so felt a little bit disappointed with the questions commercial ones have.

Thanks to Javaranch.

The exam was not difficult. But some wording in the questions were confusing. I had enough time to finish the exam, went through the marked ones and went through all questions one more time. There were not many long questions in the exam. I have used

1. Cade's Study Guide
2. Mastering EJB from http://www.theserverside.com/books/wiley/masteringEJB/
3. Read GOF a couple of years ago. But I think all the materials from here and yahoo scea_prep group are sufficient for design patterns.
4. Others topics, notes from scea_prep.
5. javaqueries, whizlab and arc2patterns mock exams. However, many questions in whizlab, questions from scea_prep, javaqueries and arc2patterns are the same. As I tried the questions and javaqueries first, whizlab and arc2patterns didn't help much and I took the exam 2 days after I purchased whizlab and arc2patterns.

Now it's time to download the assignment...

Anyone can recommend a couple of books? Thanks.

Security: because you have more control on security in 3-tier app than in 2-tier, also reduce direct connetion from the client to the db server, etc.

3-tier's manageability decreased because you have more components/configurations to take care of. J2EE improves 3-tier's manageability (but not 2-tier's manageability).
What is the best way to create a web-based folders? Is there any existing open source utilities of doing that? The functions include foldder create, delete, moving files, and viewing files. Thanks.

in a WAR file. For example, so that the file names at http://www.xxx.com/myapp/jsp directory can't be displayed.
I am running a WAR application. From one of the programs, system commands are executed, such as "cd /apps/mydata" and "java TheProgram param1". It works for "cd /apps/mydata" but not "java TheProgram param1". The error message in the log file is as the following:

access denied (java.io.FilePermission <<ALL FILES>> execute)at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:269)at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:401)at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:524)at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkExec(SecurityManager.java:774)at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:563)at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:428)at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:364)at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:326)at pdfmanager.AppendDom.createDomDocument(Unknown Source)at pdfmanager.PdfManagerImpl.mergePDFs(Unknown Source)at pdfmanager.PdfManagerIF_Tie.invoke_mergePDFs(PdfManagerIF_Tie.java:53)at pdfmanager.PdfManagerIF_Tie.processingHook(PdfManagerIF_Tie.java:123)at com.sun.xml.rpc.server.StreamingHandler.handle(StreamingHandler.java:228)at com.sun.xml.rpc.server.http.JAXRPCServletDelegate.doPost(JAXRPCServletDelegate.java:316)at com.sun.enterprise.webservice.JAXRPCServlet.doPost(JAXRPCServlet.java:49)at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:768)at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:861)at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25)at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:324)at org.apache.catalina.security.SecurityUtil$1.run(SecurityUtil.java:289)at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)at javax.security.auth.Subject.doAsPrivileged(Subject.java:500)at org.apache.catalina.security.SecurityUtil.execute(SecurityUtil.java:311)at org.apache.catalina.security.SecurityUtil.doAsPrivilege(SecurityUtil.java:205)at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:283)

Any help? Thank you.
Which free Application Server is better? The platform edition of Sun AppServer or JBoss? Can Sum AppServer support the JMS, Java Mail, etc.?
Thanks.
