How do i connect to machine using a modem, without internet to access files in shared directory.

Please help or guide me to some setp-by-step article.
- I have two computers 1. In my office 2nd at my home.
- Can I, using normal telephone connection & socket programming connect
the two computer.
- My both computers have modem.
- Can my Socket program send 2-3 MB files across.
- I don't want to use Internet for some safty reason.

Please suggest even if p2p (GNuthela) or Microsoft Networking (using which we send fax) can help me.

Please do help.

This is what i have written in my code:
public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent objMe)
{
TextField txtObject=(TextField)objMe.getSource();
int iNewX = objMe.getX();
int iNewY = objMe.getY();
txtObject.setLocation(iNewX,iNewY);
}
this Code allows me to move the control on the panel which is placed over applet.
But i have two problems
1. The movement is not very clean the TextField has two images and movemnet traces are shown.
2. When i Leave the mouse (Drag-over Or mouse-realse) the control jumps to some other position.
This is not what i intend i want the control to move with the mouse when the move is Dragged and stay where the mouse is Realased.
Plase Help Urgently.

Hello,
I am ajay chaturvedi, i got your email address from http://www.javaranch.com
I am facing a problem, with the commond which was working yesterday.
when i start my winbindd from /usr/local/samba/bin it works, i check it by ps -ae | grep winbindd
But when i issue a wbinfo -u i get following error message:
"Error looking up domain users"
for
wbinfo -p
"`ping` to winbindd failed
could not ping winbindd!"
I was using wbinfo -I and smbclient -M without any problems till yesterday.
I dont know what has suddenly gone wrong.
Note:
ps -ae | grep winbindd works fine.
Very URGENT help required

hello,
I am using a Linux commond in the Runtime.getRuntime().exec(String) funtion which
works in the following way:
1. smbclient -M testing "enter"
(smbclient is the command, -M is the option, testing is the host/Machine to whom i want to send the mess, "enter" means hit the Enter key on keyboard).
2. Then type my message and press ctrl+d to send the message.
Because i am sending message programmatically from java. i do it the following way:
char cCtrl_d = 40;
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("smbclient -M \n My Message "+cCtrl_d);
This does not works as the actuall working of command smbclient is two part, viz;
1. smbclient -M testing "Enter"
2. My Message + ctrl+d
how do i give two-part command in sequences, to the Process?
/*
i belive Runtime.getRuntime().exec(String)creates a seperate process.
*/
looking forward to some very urgent help

what do you want to do?
PAM_Auth might help you look for winbindd and nmblookup of samba suit if you are on linux,
else i think its not possible for pure jsp to do this as ASP get NT's internal information through a propritery protocol which is not available for non-MS technology.
hope it helps
