I am looking for a Java API or algorithm that will take a image file (jpg or gif) and scrap it for any text or numercial values.

Let me explain the situation I am in. I have hundreds of thousands of jpg images which are photographs of an object. The object has a unique identifier (alpha-numeric) printed on the object. The name of the image file does not correlate to the unique identifier in the image. I need to associate the unique identifier in the picture to the image file and later to a record in the database. I want to write a program that will scrap the picture and get the unique identifier, so I can rename the file to the unique identifier from the picture.

If I have to do this manually then this could take months or years with the limited resources, and as you all know, with any software project, it is needed to be completed yesterday.

I have tried a demo OCR API. It worked well for generated graphics, but it did not work well with my photographed images. I will consider paid or open source APIs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Are there any decent plugins for JSF?

Does your web.xml properly define the ActionServlet?

I have found the transition from Struts to JSF extremely easy. I have several I am considering to port when I get the time. As Kitto said if you done web development there is not much up time to JSF in my opinion

Has anyone used Web Work by Open Symphony? How does it compare to Struts or Java Server Faces? I have heard good things about it, but I am more familairt with Struts.

Is LookUpDispatchAction a new Action class? Did they start using this because of the refactoring for Common Chains implmentation they were putting in Struts?

Can some one point me to a simple tutorial which allows you to post or stream an xml to a URL. Does this make any sense? Is this even possible with web services?

I don't mean to sound rude or ungrateful, but what is the time frame for last week's winners to receive the prizes? Just wondering because I am really anxious to use Whizlab Exam Simulator for the SCMAD. I almost purchased it before I won it.

Alibabra , This is what I have noticed as well.
Here in Dallas, Texas I have seen a few jobs asking for J2ME experience. This is why I am pursuing the certification now. Not alot of people will have actual work experience, and the certification will speak for itself. This place should pick up over the next 12 months.
