I just converted everything to ArrayList of String. It works fine. However, I want the actual value to be selected as default in the dropdown. How can I do this? Thaks again for all your help.

Yes, I am specifying the correct tag. RAD tags it as invalid if I out option. It is really spitting out the object and not the value. Any workaround?

Thanks for your help!

Here is part of ActionForm:

To populate the list, I have a code in Action class that selects types from the database and put in ArrayList. After the execution, it looks something like

It looks like it is displaying the object itself since the contents of the ArrayList is object. I want to display the value of the object. Should I go back to the first solution?

Thanks! It got me somewhere. However, since I'm using ArrayList, the object is not correctly being displayed. I'm assuming I need to convert the value into String. Do you have any suggestion on how to do it. I do not want to make the ArrayList an String array. Is there any other way? Thanks again.

Hi Everyone,

I hit the wall and can't figure out why I can't get the dropdown box to work.

I'm getting this error:

My TestForm has the getter/setter for testTypeName. I'm not sure what exactly it is. Do you I have to create another class for this? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like java developers are not 'fashionable'

If I can afford this, I'll buy 'em all...

Forgive my ignorance but can Ruby be used for simple web application? Is there a website that will show sample codes or application? Thanks

If I know that I will load 1.6 million userids (one column) on a HashSet, how can I compute for the initial capacity and the load factor?

Thanks.

Thanks Stan.

Is there any workaround in java?

Using System.out.print, how can I display a text in the same position as the previous text display?

I have the following code:
for (loop condition){
System.out.print("Record#: " + recno++);
}

I want it to overwrite the previous text and just display it on the same position. Thanks.

Thanks Paul. This is exactly what I want to do. I'm a java greenhorn, can somebody share some codes to check the two enumerations and find any duplicates? A link to some articles will also help.

Note: The enumerations actually contain unique ids and not lastnames.

I have two NamingEnumeration instances which contain lastnames. How can I compare these two and search for duplicate lastnames. Thanks.

Thanks Ulf. I was able to make a successful connection to LDAP via JNDI. I'm a java greenhorn, how can I compare two directories for duplicates say in lastname attribute. I already have the connection to both the directories. Can someone share some codes on how to search thru one attribute and compare with the same attribute on the second directory? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to code something that will identify duplicate user ids
from two different directories. What is the best approach in Java? Do
you know any article or online books that would get me up to speed
with LDAP programming with Java? Thanks a lot.
