One question - on the exam, can you differentiate if there is only one or multiple correct answers?

Thanks in advance,
Leszek

Thank you Leszek.

The best part of oracle certified professional 1Z0-819 multiple choice questions exam is that, they will tell you the number of correct answers in the question's choices.

There were minimum one and maximum four correct answers in my OCP 819 exam.

Good day,

Moreover, I added a theme of question in updated post about

1) repetitive annotation
2) Security - doPriviledge() - denail of service attack,
3) one tricky object oriented question with 8 options, and
4) corrected grammatically mistakes.
5) link update of my youtube channel

I hope admin will put back updated post.

Considering how much bad material is out there, any good stuff is appreciated.

Hi Jesse,

Thank you for positive critiques!!!  I might make a separate video on "how to use of JShell for exam learning process".

I have only used JShell in One Tutorial "String and String Builder". The reason was it gave instant response. If i would write and run java file after each command on IntelliJ then the video might take easily two to two and half hours.

I am still in the course development process. I stopped making videos due to intense exam preparation.

I am planning to use JShell with one more topic on " Use primitives and wrapper classes, including, operators, parentheses, type promotion and casting". So far, I have used IntelliJ in rest of the tutorial.

I am standing by for your feedback on each video. I will help to make all series effective for exam takers.

Those changes are important Sir!!! Please add them so other can read too
The attached figure 17.10 is taken from OCP Java  SE 11 complete Study Guide (Sybex Chapter 17 Modular Application - p.823) from Jeanne boyarsky and Scott Selikoff

The diagram has following issues

1) The arrow from service provider interface to service provider is wrong way. It should be from service provider to service provider interface.

on 7/10/20, Jeanne posted it in the errata

chapter 17, p. 823, In figure 17.10, the arrow from service provider interface to service provider is the wrong way.

But, there is another mistake in diagram

2)The arrow from service locator to service provider should be deleted. we can find this concept on Appendex-B, p 1161, in the explanation of question number 15

No modules need to specify requires on the service provider since that is the implementation.

I have also attached corrected diagram for clarification.

thanks for the detailed feedback!

It would not be possible with out your Enthuware test studio

You are welcome!!!
Good day ALCON,

I have just passed 1Z0-819 OCP Java SE 11 Developer with 87%.

I have been working “on” and “off” on Java since Java 5. Programming is my passion but it doesn't provide me bread and butter.. I worked on Java FX, JSP, Servlet and Springboots. The prior knowledge and Master in IT more than i and half decade ago helped me to pass OCA 8 around two years ago with 75% but this exam required more knowledge of additional and latest topics in Java. Initially, I was all set for OCP 8 but I changed my mind since new version of exam 1z0-819 hit the market.

Please find below the feedback for those are planning to take test in the near future.

Preparation steps :

• I studied through Sybex OCP SE 11 Complete Study Guide through the following fashion

https://www.selikoff.net/2020/08/26/dont-panic-oracle-announces-new-java-ocp-11-exam/
You can skip the basic topics but I wanted to brush off my coding skills because it was a while to pass OCA 8. I went through summary and review questions.

• I underlined important concept and enclose definations with pencil. It greatly helped me todo quick review.
• I put sticky tabs on pages having "bullet points", "tables" and each topic summary pages.
• I studied all study refence material provided by enthuware. It is concise brief and to the point.
•      I studied the supplemental material on doPrivileged() from Scott's blog
• I learned through muscle memory (coding) and teaching others (making youtube video for each topic). So, I prepared for exam concurrently. First, I studied a topic, tried out all review questions from book, read relevant study material from enthuware, use Leitner mode to attempt all questions for a topic and made youtube video  https://studio.youtube.com/channel/UCZC5KfHgb_nQVedKY0MMhLw

I will keep my enthusiasm high and complete my youtube video series to help others for 1z0-819 exam preparation.

I reviewed all marked tabs on pages (having tables, bullet points and summaries) form Sybex OCP book and study reference material from enthuware in a span of five days before exam.
I would suggest 2 tests of each topics with 5 mock exams if you do not have time.

I am a night owl. so, I made sure to sleep well before the exam. I am usually lazy in morning so I checked my equipment and set up my living room before I went to bed.

Few notes about the exam itself :

• questions and difficulty level were similar to Enthuware's studio (I wish I had more time to do all of them and score higher)

• The OCP exam page setp is quite different than OCA. There were three tabs on bottom right.
1) -> forward
2) <- Back
3) [.] Review – (show ONLY marked questions which is opposite to the enthuware studio.

• There were two tabs on Top right
1) End Exam
2) Mark - It for questions you need to comeback from review tab.

At the end I went to review tab and navigated through marked questions to check if I were missing anything.

• You cannot strike option in the exam as we had in OCA.

• If the question takes more than 20 second to answer then I marked it first and moved forward to come back latter. I advise Pluck low hanging fruits first then go for higher ones.

• There was a question on CallableStatement in JDBC. It had CREATE table and stored procedure statements then a call to setObject with three parameters method by statement object. I selected it wrong.

• I had three questions on module.
naming of non-modularized jar file in the module-info.java (Remember discard all versions with jar files and change minus signs to dots(.) ).
The right use of directives in the service provider API. (Remember provider provides service.)
The right use of SeviceLoader class. (Remember, it returns iterator.)

• I had two questions on security topic - Denial of service  (Leak resource, constructing sensitive objects)

• Time given for each question is crucial. You have to pace faster than usual. Keep checking clock. first, I peek through answers to know what the question is more likely to ask. I didn’t have any time to review questions. When I mind solved my last question, I had 5 seconds remaining. I prolong exhaled and test ended by itself.

• I got instant result upon completion.

• After result, they had given me an option to initiate a trouble call to VUE pearson if test was ended catastrophically (computer crash, click end exam by mistake) and send feedback. This is a minimum 100 minutes test not 90 minutes. Please mention in your reviews for the test.

Good luck on your exam !
Hey Oli,

Did you have Callable in JDBC (stored procedures) or Concurrency (Thread) question?

Campbell Ritchie wrote:Please avoid coloured text, which many people can't read. I have changed your text to black.
Why is that an error? B&S are using a as a generic variable name.

They are not using "a" as generic variable name. Please read the following question of OCP Java  SE 11 Programmer I Study Guide (Sybex Ch-5 - p.213) from Jeanne boyarsky and Scott Selikoff

9. What is the result of the following code? (Choose all that apply.)

A. 2
B. 4
C. 7
D. 10
E. ==
F. equals
G. An exception is thrown.
H. The code does not compile.

They are trying to explain line 22 In the Appendix A - p. 506 but using the wrong variable a instead of s2.

The first line in the last paragraph says

For the second part, a += 2 expands to a = a + 2.

It should be

For the second part, s2 += 2 expands to s2 = s2 + 2.

The following paragraph is taken from OCP Java  SE 11 Programmer I Study Guide (Sybex Appendix A - p.506) from Jeanne boyarsky and Scott Selikoff

The first line in the last paragraph says

For the second part, a += 2 expands to a = a + 2.

It should be

For the second part, s2 += 2 expands tos2 = s2 + 2.

The following paragraph is taken from OCP Java  SE 11 Programmer II Study Guide (Sybex Ch 4 - p.227) from Jeanne boyarsky and Scott Selikoff

The second last line says

These collectors are available via static methods on the Collectors interface.

is should be

These collectors are available via static methods on the Collectors class.

Change variable "a" in the second part of explanation to "S2".
Can you please explain how a main method inside the java module can be run? I put the main method inside the module but it is giving compiler error.

The following question #6 has taken from Review Questions of Exercise Number 11 on page 486 of OCP Java Programmer 1 Study Guide Exam 1Z0-815 by Jeanne and Scott

6. What is true of a module containing a file named module-info.java with the following contents? (Choose all that apply.)

A. All packages inside the module are automatically exported.
B. No packages inside the module are automatically exported.
C. A main method inside the module can be run.
D. A main method inside the module cannot be run since the class is not exposed.
E. The module-info.java file contains a compiler error.
F. The module-info.java filename is incorrect.

The correct answers are B and C as per author.
