Hi Campbell

I apologise for this. It may be less significant than a content error as its only a typo.

The original sentence reads, "One of the distinguishing characteristics of Java since its very first version is that it auto-
mates performs garbage collection for you."

I just thought it was supposed to read, "One of the distinguishing characteristics of Java since its very first version is that it automatically
performs garbage collection for you"

Hi Nikalai

Thank you for your reply. I was just highlighting inconsistencies, and since I've never posted on a forum before I was advised to create a new post for every different query.

I will take your advice into consideration though. Just trying to help out.

Regards.
On page 85, regarding the code involving the lion, Line 1 in the 2nd paragraph reads, "First, lion is incremented and then returned to the expression, ", following which, it is mentioned that lion is decremented.

Is this an incorrect interpretation of the precedence of the post and pre-unary operators, or is the precedence of these operators ignored when they appear in the same line of arithmetic code and the compiler reads from left to right anyway?

On page 84, under the heading Increment and Decrement Operators in the 2nd paragraph, line 7 reads, " expression is returned with operator applied after the value is returned."

Should this rather read, "expression is returned with the operator applied after the value is returned." ?

On page 62, at the bottom of the page, in the Real World Scenario dialog box, the end of the 1st line, going into the 2nd line, reads.." very first version is that it automates performs garbage collection for you".

Should this rather read, "very first version is that it automatically performs garbage collection for you" ?

On page 57, the second sentence in the first paragraph reads, " These are not local variables". This refers to method parameters.

On page 59, the 3rd sentence on line 2 going onto 3, of the 1st paragraph reads," The piecesOfCheese variable is a method parameter and, as discussed earlier, it is also a local variable."

These are two contradictory statements.

On page 53, 4th line in the 3rd paragraph from the top reads,"doesn't know what value to use and so wants the simplest value it can give the type:". It should perhaps read...,"doesn't know what value to use so IT wants the simplest value it can give the type:" OR " doesn't know what value to use and wants the simplest value it can give the type: "
Possible grammar error: On page 39, the 5th line from the top of the page reads, " line 3 is not an instance initializer, as only called when the". It should read.......,"line 3 is not an instance initializer, as IT IS only called when the"

On page 23, there is no mention of -cp in table 1.5, but it is included in the answer for question 14, page 33, as explained on page 493.
