hi folks,

I am trying to install IBM Rational Application Developer v6.0 on my notebook ( Win XP Pro -- Pentium - 40 GB - 1.5 GB RAM ), when i install running the lauchpad.exe, the install process runs fine till it a particular stage and then it gives error ...Redundancy Error and the install process fails.

I made sure the install_image was created successfully, i also have made sure that there is enough space and sufficient RAM.

I started the install process all over again and i did it a couple of times ...but no luck....getting the same "Redundacy error"

Anyone who experienced this problem and ended up with a solution?

Suggestions are most welcome.

thx

Hi everybody,
* I have this method in SessionBean's remote interface as;
===================================================================
public Collection getAllReaders() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
===================================================================
* I have the method in SessionBean implementation class which returns Collection ie;
==================================
Collection xyz = null;
public Collection getAllReaders(){
try{
xyz = EntityHome.findAll();
}catch(FinderException fe){}
return xyz;
}
===================================
When i compile the project in WSAD 5.0.0 it indicates that
java.util.Collection must be serialized at run time ....
what does this mean exactly?
and what is the solution to run the application successfully

But when i execute the functionality of just the EntityBean alone without accessing it from the SessionBean, it executes and lists all the records of the method;
======================================================================
Remote interface for EntityBean:
public java.util.Collection findAll() throws javax.ejb.FinderException;
configured with a revelant SQL query ( select object(o)from Table o )
=====================================================================
Any assisstance in this matter for;
whats the problem when i access this method from SessionBean
and the expected solution, will be of a great help
thx

Well the client side of this application is JSP and I am using the Opera Browser. After every 15 secs the JSP page which has the looping logic refreshes by calling .... response.setHeader("refresh", "15")
part of code reads as follows....
if(m==v0 && s>=0 && s<15){%>
<object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0" WIDTH=1152 HEIGHT=864>

</embed>
</object>
<% response.setHeader("Refresh", "15");} %>

Hi all,
I am using NetBeans 3.4.1 as the IDE with Tomcat 4.0 as
the web server plugin.I am using MySQL version 3.23.56
and the OS is Linux (Slackware 9.0)
I am having a looping application which refreshes after every 15 seconds, this loop goes on well for 30 mins or so and then after that i get the following exception.( as listed below). I will be glad to know why this exception occur? does it has anything to do with the database timeout?
and how do i handle this exception. Even after getting this exception the server is runnign and it resets the connection after throwing the following exception.
Here is Stacktrace.........

Hi Everybody,
I developed a applet which talks to MySql database.
I start the database server and call this applet with the help of a browser, it runs fine and i am able to retreive and access data and also insert data
into to the Database server from this applet on my local machine.
But the same applet when i call with the help of a browser from a different machine, it loads just the Graphical User Interface , but when i wish to retreive or insert data into the MySql database through this applet, it doesnt allow me to do so.
I would be glad for your help and suggestion on this as to how to go about achieving this task.
NOTE:
1. I am loading the driver in my java code as:
private StringdriverClassLocation = "org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver";
private StringdataSourceName = "jdbc:mysql:///test";
2. I am testing on Netscape 7.02 and Internet Explorer5.5+ browsers
Both are working fine when accessing locally but not when i am on remote machine.
Is ther any special settings to be done as regard browsers?
Is the policy file need to be changed?
Is the database driver to be loaded with IP address?
any help in this regard will be a great help for me.
cheers

JSP
Hi all,
I am trying to achieve the following funtionality in my JSP page:
=========================================================
I want the time to be in number of seconds, like when the seconds is incrementing
as 1, 2 , 3 .....58,59,60...after 60 i want it continue as 61, 62 and so on.
I am able to acheive this through JavaScript , but i simply dont want to use JavaScript.
Secondly I want to display this time in Seconds on the JSP page without refreshing the page,
i mean i dont want to call the refresh on the page but the variable holding the time in seconds
should be updated and should increment by a second and should be diplayed on the page,
for example 1, 2 , 3......59, 60 , 61 and so on.
Even this i could achieve through JavaScript , again i dont want to use JavaScript.
I want to achieve the above functionality by Pure JSP code.
--------------------------------------
Actually i am creating a loop based on number of seconds, and after 12 seconds there is a movie clip to be palyed , then after 15 seconds there is a gif file to be loaded for another 12 seconds and like wise things come and go based on certain intervals of specified number of seconds .
its a simple one like
variable x of type long, is holding the value in seconds
if (x>=01 && x<=15){
// movie clip for 15 sec
}
else if (x>=16 && x<=27){
// gif file for 12 sec
}
else if ( x >=28 && x<=42){
// flash fiel for 15 sec
}
..
...
else if ( x<60 && x<=75){
// movie clip for 15 sec
}
so on and so forth till x reaches 300 seconds
-------------------------------------
any immediate reponse will be of great help
cheers

I am currently using Jboss 3.2.0 on Linux (Slackware 9.0) and i wish to use Jboss both as Web Server as well as App Server.
I wish to know :
1) is a Tomcat Plugin required for Jboss for it to work as Web Server or can it work on its own , i mean does it has a web container of its own. ?
2) If i Tomcat has to be plugged in to JBoss , then how do you do it and what are the environment varibales settings.
I mean PATH , CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME TOMCAT_HOME & JBOSS_HOME ? or
Is any shell script to be edited ?
I will appreciate your prompt response in this regard.
you can also reply me at deepak_lohar@hotmail.com

Hi guys,
I wrote a Message Driven Bean according to WSAD 5.0 tutorial. After creating the neccesary references , and in the server configuration selected the default JMS settings. After that i started the server on the servlet which calls this Message Driven Bean, but i am getting the following exception.
.................................................
[3/9/03 10:16:40:171 EST] 5e175512 FreePool E J2CA0046E: Method createManagedConnctionWithMCWrapper caught an exception during creation of the ManagedConnection for resource JMS$MyMdConnectionFactory, throwing ResourceAllocationException. Original exception: javax.resource.spi.ResourceAdapterInternalException: createQueueConnection failed

HI Arun Chalise,
can you let me know where i am going wrong ...detail as follows...
thx
Deepak Lohar (Java Developer)
---------------------------------------------
I am getting this exception on WSAD 5.0, what can be the possible reason.
[3/4/03 12:29:43:855 EST] 1d74cf02 WebGroup I SRVE0180I: [MyFirstWeb] [/MyFirstWeb] [Servlet.LOG]: /Process.jsp: init
********[3/4/03 12:29:49:777 EST] 1d74cf02 SystemErr R javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: /ejb/deep/cmp/DemoHome

Well I wrote a simple JSP ( Process.jsp) which takes parameters from one index.html page
and captures the values of UserID , FirstName and LastName fields
then i am looking for the Remote EntityBean (CMP2.0) but its giving me the above exception.
the following is the block of code in Process.jsp where i am looking for the EJB reference
.........
%@ page import="deep.cmp.DemoHome"%>
%@ page import="deep.cmp.Demo"%>
%@ page import="javax.naming.NamingException"%>
%@ page import="javax.naming.Context"%>
%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext"%>
%@ page import="javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject"%>
%
// EntityBean name is "DemoBean", Remote home interface is "DemoHome" and Remote Interface is "Demo"
// in the deployment descriptor the JNDI name is : ejb/deep/cmp/DemoHome
// The above bean, local home interface and remote interface are in package : deep.cmp
deep.cmp.DemoHome home = null;
String userID = request.getParameter("userID");
String firstName = request.getParameter("firstName");
String lastName = request.getParameter("lastName");

try {
javax.naming.InitialContext ctx = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
// I guess the problem is in the line below, while i am trying to look up *******
Object ejbObj = ctx.lookup("/ejb/deep/cmp/DemoHome");
home = (DemoHome)javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ejbObj, DemoHome.class);
}catch(Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
}
try{
home.create(userID, firstName, lastName);
}catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
}
