Hello,

I passed the Spring Professional Exam last month.

Passed with a score of 317 and passing score is 300.

I worked as a Spring Boot java developer for a year before taking this exam.

Study material - Dominic Cebulka's Udemy course

Mock exams : Ivan Merchev's Mocks on Udemy

I am working as a software developer on an IoT project.
Currently we are using Sprint Boot with MongoDB for our app.
Since we have not yet launched this app, we do not know what would be the number of people using it.

Is it a good idea to move towards Reactive MongoDB and WebFlux ?
The app is currently a monolith but we are planning to move it to microservices architecture. Is it a good idea to move towards microservices and maybe Reactive Microservices ?

Thanks for your suggestions.

This issue is now solved.

The problem was that there was a breakpoint somewhere and I just had to delete all the breakpoints.

I removed all breakpoints and now everything is fine.

To remove all breakpoints in IntelliJ Idea press following sequence of shortcuts: Ctrl + Shift + F8 (open Breakpoints dialog) Ctrl + A (select all breakpoint) Alt + Delete (remove selected breakpoints) Enter (confirm)

Hello,

I am working on Spring Boot and getting NoSuchMethodError when I click on Debug.
Apparently it is caused by multiple slf4j bindings in the classpath.
It all happened all of a sudden and I am not able to fix this for over a week now.

Please see the attached stacktrace.

My maven dependency tree is pasted below showing the different loggers on the list.

What is the reason for this error ?

Yes I went to a Pearson Vue centre. The computers are old and froze a couple of times and had to be restarted although it does not affect the test timing and everything starts from where it crashed automatically.
One  of the reasons I dont do proctored home exams is because there is a chance that my internet connection might not be stable and  also I dont have a good desk or chair to sit on as I use a laptop.
Pearson Vue test centre also cancelled my first appointment and I had to reschedule to a week later.

Some topics may not seem like they are on OCP 8, especially when one does not get any question on them in the real exam, but they are. The real exam has a large number of questions in their database and every test taker may not get a question on every topic/subtopic. We add questions to the question bank based on the feedback that we get from our classroom trainees as well as from other candidates who pass the exam.

Yes. I understand. Anything under the sun can be asked as long as it is on the exam objectives and if Java 8 still uses it and is on the docs.oracle.com website.

Bonny Santoso wrote:I'm planning to take the OCP 8 tests too, I want to get through this as soon as possible, I'm so busy with my job.

Do you think I'm ready for the real test ?

I have passed OCA 8 last month( my score was 83  and I have been studying OCP 8 material for 3 months using Scott Sellikoff book and Enthuware software.
I have passed Enthuware tests consistently with scores of 70 and above ( 78,74 and 70)
I got 100% score when doing OCP sample questions from Oracle.
But I only got 60 score when doing sample Whizlab questions.
I was pretty optimistic and confident before I took the Whizlab sample questions,  it seems like harder than other mock tests.

I think my weakness is when the question tries to test whether I notice a method even exists or not, like a method with wrong name or wrong arguments.

I was going to try out Whizlabs yesterday but decided to not do any mock exams on the day before the actual test. But I have no idea what Whizlabs is like and not sure if you really need to do it. But I have tried the 25 free questions from Whizlabs long ago and I got around 50% then. They just add another level of complexity to the world of mock exams. By the way the free tests had tons of spelling mistakes and errors in them.

Were you using the 819 or 815/816 enthuware tests?

I am using the 819 enthuWare tests, and I haven't passed any non-foundation mock test on the first try yet. And my mock exam scores definitely make me very nervous, too. I do like the test questions, though.
Foundation 1: 75%
Foundation 2: 85%
Foundation 3: 75%
Test1: 58%;
Test2: 63%;
Test3: 64%

I have 16 more enthuware mock exams left to study for. I am saving the tests from the Jean/Scott books to take later as those are even tougher than the enthuware tests.

Thanks a lot for sharing and Congratulations!!

Sorry I forgot to mention I was talking about IZO-809. Java 8
What is new in Java 11 ?

Hello everyone,

I just passed OCPJP with 73% today in the first attempt.
Previously, I got 76% for OCAJP in sep 2020 in the second attempt. I had repeated OCAJP as I got 64% in the first attempt.

Here are some things you might find useful.

1) I never passed a single enthuware test on the first attempt. All were around 52% to 60% range.
2) I never passed a single jeanne boyarsky /selikoff ocp bonus exam ( 3 bonus exams) - all in the range of 50% -60% in the first attempt.
3)  I passed 2 out of 6 exams of udayan khattry ocpjp mock exams but just barely ( 65% to 69%)  in the first attempt.
4) I did not pass the first attempt of ocpjp mock practice tests by jeanne boyarsky / selikoff ( probably around 55-60%).
5) Because I failed all of the above, I got really scared and started studying the chapters again in more detail. So I repeated all the exams except Udayan Khattry all over again although it is cheating as I might have remembered some questions from the past failures. I passed all with around 65-75%. Never failed a single one.
6) I did the Udayan Khattry topicswise tests and passed all with 70%-85% in the last week before the exam.
7) I did all the end of chapter tests from Kathy Sierra's OCP  book and it was a nightmare. Kathy is really living in a different universe. Do not buy this book as it seems to be very old and probably more relevant to Java 7 or before.
8) I did all the end of chapter tests from Ganeshan and their single mock exam on which I scored exactly 65% which is required for pass.
9)Most important thing to remember is to always learn from your mistakes. So once you fail the test, take the mistakes in your notes and revise over the notes every once in a while so the mistakes will be patched over in your memory.
10) With respect to the exam, the most difficult part is the timing. I have no strategy. I went in a straght line and finished with about 5 questions left in the last one minute(normally you would take 10 minutes for 5 questions). But try your own strategies. Since I am a perfectionist, I like to go through my exam with one clean shot. Take no prisoners.
11)Finally, I have made an interesting quiz website which helped me revise over all the mistakes I made when I failed all those mock exams. I had learnt some javascript from udemy. So I used that knowledge to make a node.js application although it would have been more appropriate to do it with Java.
Here is the link:  javaquiz.herokuapp.com

TLDR: if you have passed your OCA exam recently, the OCP exam is not much different in terms of difficulty level. It feels the same. Easy going and kind at heart to the one who has put in the effort. Its just that the Enthuware tests scared me a lot because it had a lot of Java 7 syllabus in it. In fact, after passing all those exams with over 75% in the second attempt, I still got 58% in the final enthuware test after all those preparations. So my advice to Enthuware is, please remove Java 7 syllabus from your tests like reentrant locks, sublSet, subList etc, which I have not encountered in OCPJP.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.
