Hi!
Could someone tell me how to set security roles for beans deployed in J2EE server.
I want 1 particular method of a bean to be invoked only by another bean and not anybody else.
Thanks in Advance

Hi Forum!

I was working on an example in Ed Roman's. This particular example has 2 EJB's and first ejb's method calls the other bean's method.It has explained as to how to set security roles in "Weblogic App server". I am using J2EE (& deploytool) for the example, and just can't work out how to set security roles.
Can somebody expalin to me step-by-step, how to go about doing this, please?
Thanks in advance

Thanx for the reply!
I am using J2EE server which comes bundled with J2SDKEE1.3.
I am starting Cloudscape.bat before running j2ee. The problem, I think is that the cloudscape is not creating any tables/database by itself.
I am stuck, really...just don't know how to go ahead!!! sigh

Hi Guys!
I am a newbie learning J2EE. I was attempting to do this Example SavingsAccount BMP example. I could deploy the application, but am unable to run cloudscape...it seems the cloudscape DB and savingsaccount table is not gettng created.
I used ant utility to create savingsaccount table. Is there any way other that "ant" to create the CloudscapeDB and savingsaccount table in embedded Cloudscape?
Please Help!!!

P.S. This is my third mail on the same topic so u could imagine how desparate I am to get the solution. :-(
Hi All,
When I run client application of SavingsAccount, I gat an error saying that it cannot find savingsaccount table.
I did run ant create-savings-account, and I thought the table might have been created. Could u tell me how to create the table and where, i.e, in which database?
TIA
Pankaj
Hi!!!
I am having a problem in running the SavingsAccount BMP example. I deployed the ear file(came bundled with the software) on the local server running j2ee. I also had cloudscape running in another console. Before that, I ran "ant create-savings-account"(which should create a Databse).
Now, when I run the application client, I get the following error:
C:\j2sdkee1.3\j2eetutorial\EXAMPLES\SRC\EJB\savingsaccount>runclient -client SavingsAccountApp.ear -name SavingsAccountClient

Initiating login ...
Binding name:`java:comp/env/ejb/SimpleSavingsAccount`
Caught an exception.
java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: ejbCreate: Table 'SAVINGSACCOUNT' does not exist.
java.rmi.RemoteException: ejbCreate: Table 'SAVINGSACCOUNT' does not exist.
<<no stack trace available>>
Unbinding name:`java:comp/env/ejb/SimpleSavingsAccount`
Does it mean the Database is not created? Then, does it also mean that ant utility is giving me error? Please help me out in this.
TIA
Pankaj
I am using Windows NT 4.0, j2sdkee1.3 and jdk1.3.
Hi!
I am a novice in J2EE, and am facing some problems. Could any of you please help me out in this?
I first tried using ant to compile the source code files of Converter application, which didn't work. Error was ....
ConverterClient.java:14: '.' expected
import Converter;
^
ConverterClient.java:15: '.' expected
import ConverterHome;
^
I then tried individually compiling the source files...I could compile Converter, ConverterHome,ConverterBean. On trying to compile ConverterClient, I got the following error again:
c:\j2sdkee1.3\j2eetutorial\examples\src\ejb\converter>javac -classpath c:\build;%classpath% ConverterClient.java
ConverterClient.java:14: '.' expected
import Converter;
^
ConverterClient.java:15: '.' expected
import ConverterHome;
^
2 errors
I had stored other class files in c:\build, and so I included that dir in the -classpath option.
I am working in Windows NT with J2SDKEE1.3 and J2SDK1.4 beta.

Please could anyone help me out in this?
Thanks in Advance

Pankaj

Hi guys,
this is my second mail. Please, is there anyone who could get me out of this?:
Hi I am not able to compile ConverterClient.java. I am using ant. It points errors at "import Converter" and "import ConverterHome".
My classpath looks like this in autoexec.bat
set classpath=%J2EE_HOME%\lib\j2ee.jar;%J2EE_HOME%\lib\jhall.jar;%J2EE_HOME%\lib\ejb10deployment.jar;%J2EE_HOME%\lib\j2ee-ri-svc.jar;%J2EE_HOME%\lib\system;.;%ANT_HOME%\lib;%classpath%
Please help me!
TIA

Hi!
I downloaded "ant" from jakarta.apache.org., and set environment variables as
described in autoexec.bat file for ant, j2ee and jsdk1.3.
When I tried to build applications using ant from command line, it gives the
following error:
Out of environment space
