I interviewed for a company about 6 months ago for a position as a graduate/student software developer. The interview lasted an hour and a half (half an hour being a written test on c++ and java). And I was asked for general knowledge on all technologies (grid, sockets, servers, classes, objects, linux etc).
I didnt get that job, but they called me a few weeks ago, and asked me to do an aptitude test. A few days later, I was asked to go for another interview for a graduate training program.
The interview will be a 30 minute aptitude test (similar to the online one), followed by a 30 minute face to face interview. What can I possibly expect to be asked at this stage?
Thanks in advance.

Thankyou both. Brian, that worked for me! I didnt have to put the images in a jar file however.
Thanks again, I couldnt go any further untill this part was working.

I have narrowed this down. It is the method I use to load images that causes the problem.
This runs from any location, but only works for applications:

The following on the other hand. will only execute from the current dir, but works for both applications and applets.

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here. If it were just an application, it woulc be okay, but I want to use the component for applets too.
I need it to run from any location. (prerequeset of my host).
If anyone has any ideas, I appreciate it as always.

Thankyou for your time,

When I'm in the same directory as TestApplet.html, appletviewer runs it no problem, but it wont run it if I go up a directory and do..

Equally, if I give appletviewer a full path it says:

Ultimately, the applet isnt running on my site, but runs on appletviewer (under the above conditions). I think this is the reason.
Heres the exception...

Can anyone help?

Why does the call to Test() int the second ctor cause the compiler to complain? (cannot resolve symbol).

Whoops, sorry - I am using version 3.0
Eclipse complains about assert, saying

The line of code in question is

I searched this site and found a post on this topic, but the solution may have been for a different version, as I have already chosen 1.4 compliance in the preferences. This did not work. Im using Eclipse 2.0
Thanks in advance,

Thanks folks, that answers my question. I wasnt aware of the BigDecimal classes, but Dirk, that was what I really wanted, converting just before the calculation does the job.
Thanks again!

OK, my method takes the max value possible, and the actual value within this limit.
TotalCapacity / currentVolume omits the remainder so I dont get a proper ratio.
Eg
100 / 75 = 1 //in java
if I do 100 % 75 I get 25.
The correct answer for 100 / 75 is 1.3333......
How do I get this?

Erm, that wasnt very clear. Heres the code:

my method takes two arguments
(int maxCapacity, int currentCapacity )
so if a 100 litre tank is half full, you do
(100, 50)
However, I want to convert this scale to a 0 - 75 scale. Rounding errors are giving me hell. Can anyone help?
This doesnt work for me.
float asInverseFraction = capacity/level + (capacity%level)/100;
Thanks in advance,

Just wondering what its like to work with a team of software developers.
What kind of pressure are you as an individual under to produce code. Are you expected to know everything ( NIO, SQL, JWhateverItIsYourNotFamiliarWith )off the top of your head?
Also, how do opportunities to move up in a company arise, given that you are writing as a group.

The manager of a company I was interviewed for wore a red hoody top and beige cords! It was a surprise to me. I wasnt sure if they have a casual friday, or is that the way they always dress.
I wore a suit. You should be able to get a good suit that fits your frame well, in a colour that looks good on you for under 600 euro (roughly $600). I'd advise borrowing or stealing the porsche
