Hi all,
I'm using JdbcOdbc bridge driver to access Ingres db in a CMP Bean.. but Bean start fails saying DBCreateTableNotSupportedException , while creating the table for Entity Bean.
Can anybody tell me what may be the reason....?
thanx
You can us windows sdk to create a dll for the above functionality n then use dll through JNI calls...
try using SQLConfigDataSource() method of ODBC API ...
hope this solves ur problem ... if u found any other way do reply back...
Bye
Hi marc,
Could you please elaborate this a bit, is that to write an OS in java you write a JVM basically that directly talks to hardware.. does java provides that API or JNI is used for that...
thanx

Hi Marc,
How you can write an OS using java .. like java applications run over JVM ... now JVM itself requires an OS to run ... so while ur system is booting up how it will run the JVM to run the java program...

Hi all,
I guess we dont have any forum particularly for JNI... thats y posting the porblem here...
whats the difference between passing a jstring from a java program to 'c' method AND using scanf from within the 'c' code to read the string from java execution environment... somewhat like done in the following 'c' method.....
here jstring 'str' is passed from a java method AND another string is read from the command prompt using scanf("%s", buf)
why in the first case we require conversion from unicode to UTF8 and not in the second case ....

JNIEXPORT jstring JNICALL Java_HelloName_displayHelloName(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jstring str)
{
char buf[128];
const char *s = (*env)->GetStringUTFChars(env, str, 0);
printf("Hello , %s\n",s);
(*env)->ReleaseStringUTFChars(env, str, s);
scanf("%s", buf);
return (*env)->NewStringUTF(env, buf);

}

Hi Dave...
thanx for such a nice explanation... actually the problem i have is like ..
i have to do some validations on one textfield called 'location'
it shud have only alphabets.. when the page is first displayed it shows for ex 'delhi' in the textfield... now the user can change this to any value except numeric chars... now if any numeric or invalid chars r entered i want to change the value of the text field to again 'delhi' by overwriting the numerical or invalid value entered by the user... now the value of this variable 'location' is retrived from the database.. so u cant retrieve that value again from a javascript code.. thats y the need to access java variable...
now since sending is going to take place only after validations java variable cant be retrieved from the server...
in this case what can b done ??

Hi Bill.
Thanx for the response.. could you please examplify it as i'm not clear about what you said...
actuallly its like...
var slocation = location; (java variable)
textfield.value = slocation;
in this case it is saying variable location not defined ...

Hi all,
Got interested in JINI. I read some introductory articles on it but i could not make it out how it is going to be different from a LAN. Is no configuration requirement is the only difference..

Hi all.
can anybody please suggest me about getting started with J2ME .. i am quite comfortable with J2EE. Please tell me what kits n servers etc i need to have, to practise it. Does one need to have a java enabled cellular to run the application created using the above mentioned kits..
thanx in advance..
Amit.
