Hello,
Is there a place on Sun website where they specify all the expecations from a part II assignment submission ? Or do they mention it only after we pay for it ?
I was looking on Sun's site and they only have the objectives listed even for part II.
Thanks
Ram.
Thanks guys.
About the preparation, Mark Cade book gives a very good overview of the topics needed for the exam. I also read the other book by Bambara (I dont remember the full title). I did not find it very impressive and felt there were few mistakes but there were definitely some points I could learn and given the number of topics covered in the exam, it has lot of information in one place.
The resources link that I think Ajith posted here helped a lot. And (I am not being disloyal to this group ) you could find so much notes made by folks who prepared for the exam on yahoo user group scjea. Discussion threads here also is a good source.
Regarding the time and experience, I took around a couple of months to prepare and I have had some experience playing the role of an architect. And I feel the time needed for preparation depends solely on your experience and amount of time you can spend everyday. Bhargavi and Billy, given that you are certified web component developers, I think it should be very easy. PartI is really mile wide and inch deep. The next parts I am sure will be tough.
Hope that helps.

Passed part I today with 87%. Just wanted to thank everybody for posting all the information out here. I haven't been active on the site myself but have been following all the threads and that helped a lot.
You guys rule !!!
Thanks again,
Ram.
Thanks so much for the reply, Ajith. It helps a lot. And I am still preparing for my part I, so I won't be using the diagrams yet . I wanted to find out if the part I would have such questions describing the line and arrows and asking to figure out what it describes. A few mock tests had such questions.
Thanks again,
Ram.
Following is a question from whiz labs where I did not agree with the answer given. Hoping to hear your thoughts.
A system consists of PL/SQL stored procedures and JSP/Tomcat cluster of web servers and an Oracle database. Every time there is a need for code change, developers run into problems. What is recommended in this situation ?
Out of all the given choices, one is to move PL/SQL business logic into Servlets and the other is to separate the business logic by using an App server.
The exam says moving to an App server is right because it is best to move the logic to app server and enterprise beans. And another reason is it already has JSP and Tomcat and so App server will integrate well in to this solution.
I would actually move the logic into servlets as there is no mention of transactions or sessions. And as the system already has JSP and Tomcat, Servlets would fit better than buying extra hardware for app server and extra money for licenses and increased over head.
Any justifications for either of the answers ?
Cheers,
Ram.
Hello,
Does any know of an official place with all the possible connections between elements in a UML diagram ? I see a lot of discrepancies between different books and websites on the meanings of these connections.
For example, according to Mark Cade's book, a solid line with filled diamond is 'aggregation'. But at other places I read it as 'containment' while aggregation is a solid line with empty diamond. Do these details matter in the exam ? In that case, where is everybody reading them from ?
Cheers,
Ram.
Hi Darryl,
Thanks for the reply. Even I am at work and I will try to re-install later.
But could you tell me if you were able to use it online from other location say from work ? The purchase email I received gives a URL for online learning center http://www.whizlabs.com/wolc.html which takes to index.html their home page. I created a profile but unable to use the product.
I used to think I am not so stupid to not able to follow directions to install training software
Thanks again.
Did anybody buy Whizlabs SCEA product lately ? On their website they claim the product can be used online making one not restricted to a single computer. I have activated mine on one computer and not able to use the unique key to activate the product online from a different computer.
Does that mean if my hard drive crashes, I lose the product ? Appreciate any answers.
Thanks
Ram
