Hi all

I want to put icons somewhere in a beginner project, so as to call:
Icon icon = new ImageIcon("myIcon.gif");
(or some variant with a path specified), and bung it onto a JLabel etc.

In the src folder of the project I've got a gui package containing:
BuildGui.java

I've tried putting a test icon just about everywhere. Sometimes it shows up, but if so, when I fire up a shell, go to the dist folder that Netbeans creates, and try:
java -jar MyIconDemo.jar
no icons show.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply Tim. A little over my head though. Are you saying my development folders should mirror the Tomcat webapp folders exactly? If so, why should I bother with a JAR file at all?
And if I do things your way, I would still like to know the answer to my question
Thanks anyway

I'm new to Ant and JSP, and have hit a problem; I've been working through Head First Servlets and JSP (great book), and have got to the part where you create custom tags using tag files. I want my Ant build.xml to put them into WEB-APPS/tags, and can't see how.
At the moment my War task reads:
<target name="dist" depends="build" description="blah">
<!-- make the war file -->
<war destfile="${warfile}" webxml="${etc}/web.xml">
<classes dir="${build}"/>
<fileset dir="${jsp}" includes="*.jsp" />
<!-- how do I get *.tag files into /WEB-INF/tags ? -->
<lib dir="${lib}" includes="*.jar, *.tld" />
</war>
...
</target>

Thanks

Thanks for your reply, Andrew. That is not my mistake however. I've got the jakarta-taglibs 1.0.3 stuff, downloaded in March. The book refers to 1.0.2
so I think I must be up to date.

One thing you need to do: download the JSTL tag library and put all its jar file into the
WEB-INF/lib/ folder of every web application you try to build. (there is a simpler way, but need configuration)

JSP
Hi
I'm reading Beginning JSP 2.0 from Wrox Press and I'm stuck. I can't get the new Expression Language to work. I've got J2SE 1.4, Tomcat 5 Beta on Windows 2000. JAVA_HOME, CATALINA_HOME, CLASSPATH and PATH set as per the book.
Sometimes the EL just shows up as literal text eg: ${something} in the HTML output.
Sometimes I get the following error message:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to initialize TldLocationsCache: The system cannot find the path specified
Help appreciated
