hi folks,
I am placed in Mumbai. and i am currently working on the SCJD examination. I am also planning on organizing a small meeting for people who are also in Mumbai and ARE ALSO PREPARING FOR SCJD. How many of u will be interested?

Soma,
The DC tool should take about 2hrs of work. As far as the steps goes, i started out by taking a very very close look at the data class and figuring out how the binary file is read. And then try to do a bit of reverse engg.
[Hint:- Try the reusability concept of OOPs]

hi folks,
I finished the data conversion tool. Now whats next??
Praveen Kannan
thanx Jerry,
a very valid point! But then now this module is just too easy!!!
Praveen Kannan
Is that really neccessary? If i used the Data class then i will have to use the entire package. Where i don't need more than 3/4th of the methods. Do u think such an overhead is really required? Could i just cut/copy-paste the second constructor into my DCT and make it work??
Thanks

hi,
I am working on the Conversion tool. and i have the data read from the ascii file. I am computing the lenght of the Header in number of bytes. and this is written to the header of the file. Then i wrote a test program that uses the DATA class to read the data file i created and it keeps on giving incorrect Header length. Could someone please tell me how to solve this problem???
Thank u all so much

Sri Parthas,
I am also working on the same module, but i am not adding any record number. Reason is, if you look closely at the getRecord() method in Data class, the integer parameter is used to seek through the file to the particular record, using the record length calculations. Of course, it is my point of view. Do anyone else view it differently???

Hi,
I was working on this small program that would read a jar file and load all the Beans in it. During the test phase, i was only using the console to display the available Beans. I was using the BeanInfo.getIcon(BeanInfo.ICON_COLOR_16x16) method that returns a reference to an object of type java.awt.Image. I was not using any other awt/swing components and still somehow the AWT EventQueue Thread had started and it kinda halted the program(put it in wait). So i had to do System.exit(0). Can someone please tell me why this thread got invoked and how to destroy it?
Thank you

hi dhams des,
I guess u r ready to go. I think u should take a look at the sun's tutorial site and download their source for Bingo and try running it, if haven't already done that.

hi dhams des,
I am writing the code now from scratch. There are no such specs. I looked at what they had done and trying to re-create it. So far i have finished the server side and have finished designing the client side GUI. I guess i will go ahead any try both RMI and Socket programming to get a feel of things.

hi guys,
I am also preparing for SCJD. I will be downloading the project in the next 2 weeks. Here is what i have done so far. First visit this site below to get the objectives clear.
http://suned.sun.com/USA/certification/devobj.html
Next, I went through a bunch of Java books to clear my concepts on the objectives. Especially Swings, Threads, RMI and Network programming. Now I am working on a program called BINGO which is provided by Sun Microsystem on their tutorial site, in putting it together. I think this program kinda sums up all the concepts mentioned in the above link. If anybody thinks this is too much preperation or have anymore advice for me please please please tell me.
Thank you

PS:- here is the link to the Bingo Game. http://web2.java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/together/index.html
hi,
I want to give the Sun Developer exam and while searching for good materials i came across the Bongo game simulation at the Sun tutorials site: http://web2.java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/together/bingo/index.html
Is this a good project to start with to get a feel of the project in SCJD exam??
Thank you
