thanks for the quick replies.. i appreciate all the comments.

thats what im thinking, if just for comparing strings why the hussle of performing another condition to check on using the compareTo rather than the plain old equals method.

thanks..

hi guys,

im fond of using equals method of the String class when comparing strings. but a friend of mine says its much better to use a compareTo(). Although i know that the compareTo comapares per character, as i remember.

What do you think?

i have a dynamic text to display in my jsp based on a certain session variable, my first idea was to store it in a variable then fill that with the message i want.

And create a <netui:label> and assign a datasource value using the variable with the text message.

Any comments, or should i put the logic in the JSP rather than in the controller.

thanks all

what if the web application is being used by several people? will this point me to use hashmap instead?
10 years ago
Hello all,

im developing a simple portal application in BEA. Now i know this is a noob question. please forgive me.

Me and my team mate is arguing if we want to use hashmap vs. a function. Now this will just handle some values, like the list of states in america.

I wanted to use hashmap and used a static initializer on it. She wanted to use a function to load up the values.

Any comments?

Well i was also worried on the memory that it will consume on the server.

whenever i want to access a netui label via tagid the browser always tell me that its a null value or not an object. this is the code im using :

JSP code:
<netui:label value="0.00" tagId="PrimaryC"/>

Javascript code:
document[getNetuiTagName("TestForm", this)][getNetuiTagName("PrimaryC", this)].value = 200.78;

, but using an id attribute allows me to access it :

<netui:label value="0.00" id="PrimaryC"/>

Problem with this the documentation says the id attribute is deprecated and i have to use the tagId attribute.

by the way im using BEA Workshop 8.1. Thank you for any help.
