Thanks JAVARANCH for making it possible I read almost every message in this forum to prepare for the exam.
I started preparing for SCBCD in mid January. At that time I had no
coding experience in EJB. I started with basic EJB tutorial available from www.java.sun.com. I studied HF EJB once and practiced examples on J2EE RI. HF EJB covers every exam objective and is easy to understand. It
helped me to get ready for the exam in less than 50 days I used HF EJB, softSCBCD simulator and www.jdiscuss.com free exam to practice mock questions. SftSCBCD questions were closer to the real questions and my score averaged 75%-80%.
I wish you all good luck for SCBCD. Now I will start preparation for Web Services exam

My comments which I posted in another discussion thread. You might find it of some help.

I was also looking for the best SCBCD simulator to start my preparation.
The recent posts in the Sun Certification Forum suggest that soft-SCBCD
is better compared to EJBPlus. My friend in United States had used
both EJB plus and soft SCBCD and he has also suggested to go for sof-SCBCD
as the question are close to real exam.

I did not use JDK 1.4 logging API.
The requirement does not mention that we MUST use logging.
I have seen few posts where people have passed with no deduction in marks because of not using logging. The application in softSCJD also did not use logging. This convinced me that use of logging is not going to make any difference in my score.

Too many questions
It will take Billy a couple of years to answer those questions

Ine System is offering examulator at 10$ and softlearn at 9.9$
The cost is almost same but which one is better?

I am also confused. The tutorial on EJB makes frequent mention about JSP clients of EJB Do we need to know JSP/Servlet before starting preparation for SCBCD?

Thank you very much Peter and Andrew.
Peter: softSCJD is like a simulator for SCJD exam. It has a sample hotel booking application, tutorial on swing and File I/O.
The design/requirement/implementation of the sample application was very generic and I found it quite useful, especially their record locking code
I received it for review very late so I couldn't spend much time on it. I only read the sections of their document in which I had confusions in SCJD project.
I don't know what is the cost of the product because of some problem with Internt Explorer in my machine I could never open their website (www.Softlearn-Systems.com) I will suggest that product only to someone who has just started or in early stages of the SCJD assignment implementation or to someone who is not very confident about his implementation of SCJD assignment.

Thank you very much your help.
I have posted my score, my preparation in the Certification Results section.
I will paste the same here for you.
I strongly recommend taking SCJD. It has surely increased my confidence.
Now I am gearing up to take SCBCD in two months time

Hi friends
My long wait for SCJD result is finally over.
My preparation included the following books and links:
SCJD Exam with J2SE 1.4 - Mehran Habibi
The book is very good and i highly recommend it for SCJD.
Java Developer's Handbook - Philip Heller
This book is also very good.
www.javaworld.com
The articles by Allan on threading are very good
www.javaranch.com
Without javaranch it was impossible for me to pass this exam. Thanks to the explanations given by Philip, Andrew, Ken, and many more.
Last but not the least i used softSCJD simulator to gain confidence. It was of great help in writing the locking and search code and in writing the design decisions. Though i did not use it extensively, I thank them for giving me the simulator for review.
It is time to do some EJB
