return hardCodedUsers[i];
return null;
}

Then what is the book for 1.5?
Hello

I am in and out from Java / websphere based middleware projects in the same company during past 5 years. I have not worked more than 3months at a stretch in java past 5 years. I do browse this site to see your guys talks.

Now I have come to a point I really need to get certified and get my hands around Java based projects. Eventhough I have done lot of java coding during my MS, employer does not recognize that I can do a big project.

So I wanted to start with SCJP.

Can some of you let me know should I go for Tiger since every one is talking about it or 1.4. Company as a whole still on 1.3. But We have to be current when getting certified.

If I am going for tiger, how can I find the resoures in terms of books (When can I expect K&B for tiger?)

Thanks

I would like to see an example of using set. Instantiating from a set and using the set API.

If anyone has an example please post here.
I am going thru' all the TABs on DD on RSA6.0 and I do not know where to define Taglib location? (in WSAD prior version I see web-content/WEB-INF/tld but I don't see that structure in new version)

When look at the source I do not see <Tag-lib> tags in web.xml.

Could someone let me know the where can I get a Deployment Descriptor for RSA6.0 with JSTL?

Here's the user.java class which has the message attribute defined as private , instead of user.message I used user.getMessage in the FOR EACH loop in the jsp page still I am getting the same error.

package com.ibm.tutorials.rational;
import java.util.Vector;

public class User {
private String name;
private Vector messages;

// Simple implementation of a set of users -
// only for illustration purposes. Normally users
// would have to be maintained and managed in a database
private static User[] hardCodedUsers = {
new User("Joe"),
new User("Jane"),
new User("Tony"),
new User("Tina") };

public static User[] getHardCodedUsers() {
return User.hardCodedUsers;
}

public User(String name) {
this.name = name;
messages = new Vector();
}

public String getName() {
return this.name;
}

public Vector getMessages() {
return messages;
}

public void addMessage(Message message) {
messages.addElement(message);
}

// Return a User object based on user name or a null if a user
// by that name does not exist

public static User getUser(String username) {
User[] allUsers = User.getHardCodedUsers();
for (int i = 0 ; i < allUsers.length ; i++)
if (allUsers[i].getName().compareTo(username) == 0)
return hardCodedUsers[i];
return null;
}

} :roll:

I am following instructions given in the following website and built the message center. (I downloaded RSA 6.0 trial and working on it)
https://www6.software.ibm.com/dw/education/r/rdynwebsites/

In my JSP page where I am retrieving the messages I have a fo loop and I am getting error below for the JSP TAG with FOR loop

<c:forEach var="aMessage" items="${user.messages}">

Error was

JSP Translate: Custom tag attribute items cannot be runtime expression
Value : [${user.messages}]

Can someone shed some light please?

Could someone let me know why apps are deployed on to generic server.

I found some info in
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/ws40help/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.websphere.v4.doc/wasa_content/060647.html

It says that process can start/stop via Admin console. Confused, If you deploy on to normal app server too it can be done, correct?

But it does not talk too much details.. Can someone shed some light on App server vs Generic Server?

Old way it is called "MQ Series"

Now they call the same as "IBM Websphere MQ"

Both are same

Hi all

Resolutin for the problem I described above is below

The reason for my prior error was DBCreate script in WAS-HOME/bin did not run due to insufficient access rights.

I ran the DBCreate script manually by login db2admin id. All set!!

I have both WAS5.0 and WAS4.0 installed with DB2 8 in the same machine.

I believe DB2 equivalent to classes12.jar is db2jcc.jar

I have all the below in my class path(added JDBC 2.0 driver too)

C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB\java\db2jcc.jar;
C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB\java\sqlj.zip;
C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB\java\db2jcc_license_
cu.jar;
C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB\bin;
C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB\java\common.jar;
C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3\lib\ext\jdbc2_0-stdext.jar

Here's what I did to install WAS4.0
1) Installed DB2 8.0
2) installed WAS
3) Launch the Admin console
4) Above error reported in WAS logs

Can you please let me know what should be there in the classpath related WAS?

Here's all i have in my classpath from the installer::

C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Studio\bin\eglbatchgen.jar
