JSF
The managed bean is described as below:

class MyBean {

private ArrayList brandNames;
public List getBrandNames() {..};
public void setBrandNames(..) {..};
}

How do I show it in the JSF page in the JSP?

Accessing java from javascript, any ideas on how to get this done in both Firefox and IE.
No, he has defined his form to be a DynaValidatorActionForm and so the validation is tied to the action and not the form. He would have to
tie the rules to the form if it was defined as DynaValidatorForm

Ok if I use

<html:cancel>. How do I identify the Cancel action in my Action class, because
I need to forward to a different screen when a Cancel button is pressed.

I have a DispatchAction and TestForm (extends ValidatorForm). I want to
avoid validation when the user clicks the Cancel button. Currently the
Cancel button is coded like this

<html:submit value="Cancel" property="command">

public class TestAction extends DispatchAction {

public ActionForward Cancel(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpRequest..) {
return mapping.findForward("mainpage");
}
}

When I click cancel, the Cancel method is not called.. because the Validation of the form takes place before hands and the form gets back to the view.

Need to write a command line tool in Java that will take in a password.
Obviously there is no echoing of the password on the console. Any ideas?

I have a Pentium 4.0 2.8 Ghz, 512 RAM laptop and it takes 2-3 minutes
for Eclipse to start. Other programs like Excel, Word and even Netbeans
start up instantly..

Is there something that can be done to speed up the Eclipse start process.
I have a page that displays several rows of editable data. These rows
are rendered as <tr>'s of an enclosing <table>. I have noticed that
the browser does not render the contents of an html table until the last <tr> is processed.

This leads to slow loading of the page. I have optimized all my server side
components and have narrowed down the apparent "slowness" to be this issue of rendering several rows i.e. (400 rows).

Now, I am not an html expert, but I don't see how I can avoid using
an html table to render tabular data. Is there a DHTML setting, I can use?

This post may not belong in the JSP section, but feel it might be relevant
to all you web-app developers.
Has anyone had any success running the JSF demos (cardemo, guessNumber)
with Resin 2.1.13. They don't seem to work out of the box with the
Resin app server.

I keep getting the following error..

Anybody using JSF actively for their projects?. I would like to get their feedback on their experiences. My concerns/questions are:
1) What tools/IDE to use.
2) Seems like a lot of abstraction for a simple request-response cycle.
Is JSF fast?
3) What about DHTML/Javascript support. All major browsers
support a fairly sophisticated DHTML DOM. So to justify writing a pure
JSF app with no client side interactivity (using Javascript) is going to
be difficult to swallow for users accustomed to snappy Win32 apps.
4) Does JSF speed up developing web pages.
