Hello there,

You need to modify your registry according to the error message, if you are running Java over Windows. Sorry I cannot give you more detailed description about that.

Good luck

If you have experiences in web application development, I think 40-50 days is enough for you to pass the exam. Please pay attention: JUST PASS, instead of high score. Be careful --- choose the right books for your preparation.

Good luck
Hello Oneal,

I spent two months preparing the exam. I took one month to read "Study kit" three times. At the beginning, one chapter each day. Then two chapters each day. It is ten days to go over "HFS" three times and take all mock exams in the book.

Just come back from testing center. Pass! Score is 91%, 63 out of 69.

Thanks Javaranch, JDiscuss and j2eeCertificate.

I used two books: "SCWCD exam study kit" and "Head first Servlet and JSP". I read through both of books three times. Personally, I think "study kit" is better to be used in the beginning of prepararion, and HFS provides better excises and tips.

In my case, the actual test is similar to the final mock in HFS. When I took the mock at the first time, I got 80%.

The parts of EL, JSTL, and Customer Tag are easier than my expectation, and similar to the questions in HFS.

I encountered a lot of questions related to response and reqeust API, DD and concepts of security. So put more time one them for your exam, please.

Good luck.

On Sept 4, I ordered a copy of HF Servlet and JSP. Today, I was notified the order was shipped by UPS. I hope I can get it in two days.

Good luck
The difference is on the version. If you take scwcd 1.4 exam, "J2EE 1.4" will appear in your certification; otherwise, "J2EE 1.3".

SCWCD 1.4 is the newest version, and more difficult than SCWCD 1.3.
I think that the servlet container should create one servletConfig for each servlet instance. We can see the protype of function init:
public init(ServletConfig servletConfig);

When one servlet is created, the init(ServletConfig) will be called once.
Both of books are great for J2EE study.

The first book is not really cover all about JSP and servlet that are required in SCWCD 1.4. If you are new to J2EE, it is a good starting point.

The second book is very helpful to learn J2EE patterns and covers all patterns, except MVC.

Most of SCWCD fans must know and have the following books:
1) Head First Servlets & JSP (ISBN: 0596005407) not released
2) SCWCD Exam Study Kit: Java Web Component Developer Certification (ISBN: 1930110596)

Good luck
Hello there,

It is August. What is the status of Head first Servlet and JSP?
We wait it for a long time. Check oreilly.com, but there is no any useful information about the book.

Good luck to everyone who is eager to read the book.
